This house in not suitable for any guest who is allergic or not comfortable with animals.
The house and property are even more impressive than they appear in the pictures. The spaces, both indoor and outdoor, are very well designed for socializing and relaxing. This, combined with the food prepared by the chef, made the entire experience feel joyful and effortless. It's clear a lot of thought and energy has been put into creating the experience Casa de las Cupulas provides.
Renting a moped in town is highly recommended. It's a fun way to tour the island and visit the nearby sculpture garden and the clubs and beaches as the other end of the island.
One of the highlights of my trip was playing tennis and then taking a dip in the pool.
I can't recommend this rental enough and very much look forward to visiting again!
Two families , eight people , including one 16 year old and two 20 year olds.
The stay was first class and all inclusive. The property is lovely, quiet and relaxing, but the amenities are such that no one was bored.
There is a main house with 3 bedrooms and a second structure at the back of the driveway which has two bedrooms and bath downstairs and quarters upstairs for the grounds keeper and night watchman, Manuel.
The pool was maintained daily , and the tennis court was in good condition. The interior and exterior of the property were beautiful ,
The home faces east giving marvelous ocean views from the seating area on the front patio.
The staff of 3 are excellent. They are competent, friendly and well trained. They are available but unobtrusive. Every meal we had there was very good.
The owner was helpful . He arranged golf carts to accommodate our group . They were waiting for us when we arrived. He checked on us frequently during our stay to make sure everything was up to our expectations. He had welcome treats available for us on our arrival.
Beaches-North beach in front of Na-Balam Hotel and Sac Bajo on the west side are both lovely and easily accessible by golf cart.
Nearby , on the west side of the island, are two good but rather expensive restaurants, both in hotels-Casa de los Suenos and Villa Rolandi. We also enjoyed very much Olivia's and Mangos.
Plumbing in much of Mexico and on Isla Mujeres is such that toilet paper has to be deposited in a waste basket rather than the toilet bowl. This was an adjustment for us, but was a minor negative.
One of our young people who has traveled to many resorts internationally remarked that this was the best place she had ever been, and this pretty much summarizes our feeling about Casa de las Cupulas.
From the moment you arrive to the moment you depart, this property symbolized everything that a relaxing vacation means to me. David the owner is an outstanding host and Amira, Liset, and Manuel could not have been better support. The food was absolutely delicious (especially the ceviche) and the property was immaculately maintained. The property is minutes from the Mayan Temples and cliffside ocean views. Highly recommend to anyone looking to escape the daily grind.
Everything about Casa de las Cupulas is well thought out. Located slightly off the beaten tourist path, the villa overlooks the Caribbean on the island of Isla Mujeres, a short ferry ride from Cancun, Mexico. The island itself is a quaint, friendly place with warm white beaches on one side and dramatic cliffs on the other where the Caribbean surf crashes constantly. The villa is located on the sparsely populated southern end of Isla within walking distance of the Mayan ruins on the southernmost tip. The elevated stone patio within the walls of Casa is an ideal place to sip coffee while watching the sun rise over the Caribbean. The architecture, furnishings, and decor of Casa de las Cupulas are beautiful, interesting and unique, creating an atmosphere of relaxation. The greatest feature of this place, however, is the service provided by David (the owner) and the staff. Amira, the cook/housekeeper, prepared wonderful dishes for us daily. Everything she served was made from scratch, including an endless supply of guacamole, pico, fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit. Evening meals were works of art. I spoke to David daily and his advice about the island - what to do, where to go, who to call - was invaluable. I called him several times and he never missed answering his phone. I was with a party of ten, and the villa accomodated us generously without ever feeling crowded. To summarize, there are not enough stars to adequately rate the quality of Cas de las Cupulas.
We stayed at Casa de La Cupulas with another family for one week. The house is very unique and has a lovely pool that is heated to the perfect temperature. We had 5 kids staying with us, and the heated pool turned out to be very important, as the local beach club has only unheated pools. (BTW, the beachclub is worth the trip!) The house is located in the quiet section of the island. This meant a longer drive to town, but we enjoyed driving our rented golf carts, and it gave us the freedom to go running each morning. It also helped us avoid the noise of the city.
The cook, Amira, was amazing. All she wants is for you to pick what you would like to eat, and she can make it. It's all authentic and amazing.
It is important to note that there are three bedrooms in the main house, and two bedrooms in the nearby guesthouse. This was a little bit of a problem for us, as the children did not want to sleep out their alone, so we had to join them. The entire place is very clean. The tennis court is nice. Manuel, the caretaker, is quiet but kind and very dedicated to his work. Both Amira and Manuel pretty much only speak Spanish, but guests can use the owner (who is available by phone) to help with any translations for groceries etc. This was not an issue for us as we enjoyed trying out our Spanish and they welcomed our efforts. David, the owner, was always very responsive to any questions or requests we had, and genuinely wanted us to be happy. The home is very important to him as he designed it himself. They did have a dog who lived at the house in the past, but unfortunately, he recently passed away. The cat lives outside and is friendly.
The shoreline right across the street is rocky, windy, and beautiful. You can't swim here, but it is a great place to walk. Just a short walk around the tip of the island by road brings you to the sandy side. We were not able to really snorkel due to recent rain and wind churning up the sea, but we hear it is good otherwise. Just hanging out by the beach with a cool drink was fantastic in itself.
Overall, we had a great week on Isla de Mujares and have many happy memories of Casa de La Cupulas.
The house was very comfortable and well maintained, beautifully designed, and very homey at the same time. The owner answered all of our questions before arriving and was a phone call away during our stay if we needed something. Loved the separate Casita, enjoyed the pool. Just a short walk to a beautiful park and view at the end of the island. All of our meals were cooked as we requested and very delicious. Loved having the tennis court great way to start our day. Traveling with small children we spent most of our time at the house and North Beach. Had a great dinner at Rolandi and most enjoyed the ribs and potato salad on sunday from the soggy peso. Highly recommend
