Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

We understand that your pets are part of the family too. We don't charge extra for you to bring them but we do require copies of your dog's most recent vaccinations as well as a recent receipt for flea medication. (Frontline, Advantage, etc.) This is for your safety as well as the safety of our other guests. We have TONS of room for your dog to safely run and we even provide the tennis balls and water dishes!

*Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate cats due to allergies.*

The Butterfly Ranch is a light filled cabin nestled on a quiet lot just twelve minutes from downtown Highlands in Scaly Mountain which is the Atlanta side of Highlands. Located at 3800ft. Highlands is a temperate rain forest and our temperatures are generally mild which makes it a popular retreat from the Atlanta heat. There is ample of room to play outdoor games or just sit and watch the wildlife. We get LOTS of deer on our property and there is great bird watching as well.

There are two 'pick your own' berry farms within walking distance and an honor system fruit and vegetable stand for fresh local produce.

We have provided bocce balls, a croquet set and some cards and other games.

Our goal at The Butterfly Ranch is to provide a spa-like experience in the woods. We have tried to think of everything.

Neat Cabin Hideaway!

My husband and I and our two dogs spent a few days after Christmas at this cozy little cabin! We actually witnessed our first snowfall of the season the night we got there - it was so pretty looking out from the porch to the snow-covered trees and pond! We ventured out to check out the surrounding areas including Highlands, Cashiers, Franklin, and Clayton. During our trip, we ate at the Highlands Smokehouse which was FABULOUS and then the next night we cooked breakfast for dinner in the cabin. We would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice getaway! The only thing that would have made it more perfect would have been to have WiFi, a few more hangers in the closet, and some measuring cups in the cabin. Thank you, it was a pleasure to rent from you and we really appreciated your helpfulness and professionalism before, during, and after our stay!

Above and Beyond

Hi Danielle,

I really wanted to mail a letter to you, but in the chaos that is our lives with 2 little boys, I’ve neglected to do that and I certainly didn’t want to let any more time go by without communicating with you. We had a wonderful time in Highlands! That was our first trip up that way, and it was absolutely perfect! I think Lauren wrote a more detailed description in the book in the bedroom, but I’ll simply say that we had a ball. I certainly appreciate you helping me with the spa and restaurants. Lauren’s trip to the spa was perfect!

We will definitely be making a return trip to the Butterfly Ranch, hopefully sooner rather than later. I have spread the word to all of our friends about this perfect place we found, and the very fortunate luck of renting from an amazing owner that went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. I sincerely appreciate all of your help!

We look forward to a return trip to Highlands, and the Butterfly Ranch!

Slice of Heaven Is Right!

What a find the Butterfly Ranch is! We were looking for a place that would allow our dog to vacation with us and were awesomely accommodated in our stay. It really does feel like a spa in the mountains - from the cozy decor down to the extra comfy bed, plush towels and travel size toiletries provided. The setting is picturesque is so accessible to everything nearby - great hikes, dining and shopping in Highlands, etc. This felt like home - except better! We loved going to sleep to the sounds of nothing but crickets and bullfrogs and waking up to the sound of nothing but birds. This place is a definite must for anyone needing a break from the bustle and noise of city life! We will definitely be back.
