Villa Playa Del Faro and Villa Isla Negra are identical and adjacent villas for rent in Mexico.
They are brand new, elegant oceanfront vacation rental homes located in the Yucatan Peninsula's Gulf of Mexico. These comfortable, spacious retreats are your home away from home, with beautiful ocean views and fresh sea breeze day and night.
Both villas are located in a quiet area with American, Canadian and British neighbors who live there months at a time. We are only 45 minutes north of the large, colonial city of Merida (population over 1 million people), which has an international airport (Code MID) featuring direct flights from Houston, Miami, Atlanta and Mexico City. The best connections are on Continental Airlines, offering 1 stop service from most US cities directly to Merida. You can also save money by flying into the resort area of Cancun, which is about a three hour drive from the villas. In addition, luxury buses often travel from Cancun to Merida.
Both villas have a unique design using Talavera tiles. They both have finished bathrooms, kitchen and stairway giving it a definite Mexican style. These are new constructions accommodating 4-6 people in each villa. Just a few steps out your door, your private gate opens onto a deserted white sandy beach that you can explore for miles. One can swim, snorkel and fish in the warm aqua-blue waters of the Gulf. The beach is peaceful with shallow waters and does not have sea grass. It is perfect for relaxing, swimming and collecting a variety of shells is always fascinating! At the end of the day, you will be amazed by the breathtaking sunsets, the sound of the waves and the blanket of stars above. This part of the Gulf of Mexico has not been affected by the recent oil spill in the north; the turquoise waters and white sands of the Yucatan beaches are still pristine and unpolluted. The quiet, warm Gulf breeze is made for delicious tropical nights!
Both villas have two bedrooms with a private bathroom with a shower and a balcony. The master bedrooms in both villas have an oceanfront terrace with a spectacular view. The master bedroom has a queen bed; the second bedroom has two queen beds. Downstairs, is the kitchen with an open plan dining area and lounge look out to the outdoor patio area with its outdoor dining set, long chairs and beach chairs. A terracotta and Talavera tiles charcoal barbecue with an inbuilt sink and cooking area are ideal for your ocean view barbecues by the pool.
Both villas are on a long white sandy beach, that is almost deserted for most of the year. The beach is just steps down from our terraces. You can walk for miles collecting sea shells and watching pelicans dive for fish. You will meet a handful of fishermen and one or two foreigners – otherwise, you will usually have the beach to yourself. Telchac Puerto is home to a large American Flamingo colony and other bird species.
You could stay in this area for a long time and not run out of things to do. The local people are very friendly and helpful, and will gladly assist you even if you do not speak Spanish.
We have an English speaking caretaker if you need assistance. She will meet you and show you around both villas.
Historic Merida is a city dating back to the 1600's with an amazing original architecture in the Centro district. Once can experience music and dancing and on Sunday mornings rent a bike and tour the city on several streets just for cyclists. You will love the fabulous restaurants and outdoor cafes in Merida, and the shopping is great!
In addition, one can visit modern Merida with its ice skating rink in the center of the mall, a fascinating zoo and VIP movie theaters with lounge chairs and cocktail services. If you are homesick, one can even find Home Depot, Costco, Wall Mart, McDonald, Sears, and Starbucks.
There is much to do near the villas including visiting Mayan ruins (Dzibilchaltun, Chichen Itza, Uxmal etc.), swimming in Cenotes (underground rivers), fishing, lots of shopping, or just relaxing on the beach. The area is culturally interesting and will provide you with insights into true Mexican life.
