Wonderful Retreat

5 of 5

The cabin was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway with friends. 6 large bedrooms, a huge living room, and well-stocked kitchen. The screened in porch is where we spent most of our time enjoying nature and the beautiful view of the bay. There was a nice deck down by the water. It was also great that it came with a few kayaks and a canoe to explore. My only issue was that it was pretty dusty and there were a lot of large cobwebs when we arrived. But seriously, everything else was perfect. It was a great location to the town and fun restaurants. I would DEFINITELY recommend this to friends and family and hopefully I'll be back in the near future.

Relaxed week on the Bay

This charming home provided the perfect backdrop to a week of total relaxation. The kitchen was very well stocked and spacious. The numerous French doors opening onto a large screened-in porch was the perfect setting for family dinners and great views of the water. We totally enjoyed kayaking and viewing eagles, osprey and numerous other water fowl. This is a great home for connecting with friends and nature.
Owner's Response: We are pleased when we hear how others enjoy our vacation home. It is a
place/environment that lends itself to relaxation and low-key special times with family and friends.

Amazing Girlfriends Weekend

5 of 5
Submitted: January 21, 2012 Stayed: December 2011
We rented this beautiful home for a ladies' getaway in the early winter. It was simply gorgeous, filled with delightful surprises, wonderful books and art throughout. The kitchen was so bright and easy to work in, the dining room overlooking the river simplly beautiful in candlelight, and the living room with the large fire place made enchanting. We began planning our return for next year as soon as we arrived.
Owner's Response: Such a delight to know that when we share our home that others have such a pleasant experience. Even in early winter , the quiet and beauty of the place creates a very good gathering place for small groups.

Spring and summer , of course, are prime times to enjoy the water and the area.

Nice getaway

4 of 5
Submitted: July 26, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
I stayed here with a bunch of friends on a recent weekend in July. We had a great time kayaking, lounging on the hammock, grilling, and playing sports on the grounds and nearby. The home itself was rustic and in reasonably good condition. Just a couple words of advice to future vacationers: 1. Bring a flashlight - we arrived at night and there were no lights on (understandably), so we had difficulty finding our way and the entrance to the house. 2. It's a little risky going during the summer. We had the bad luck of going during a heat wave, so it was very hot and humid. We made out fine with the fans provided and our own fans, but it did feel like a sauna sometimes. The windows don't allow for window A/C units. 3. Bring a citronella candle/bug spray to keep the bugs away - it gets very buggy at night. 4. The TV is pretty small, so watching a movie with a group is tough. Overall, we had a great time, but these are some things it would have been good to know ahead of time.

Owner's Response: We appreciate this review, and it's usefulness for future renters. Our family is so accustomed to being in this home, that we miss the little details.
A flashlight for the back porch and late night arrivals is a perfect example. Car headlights would also work.

This group of young families arrived during the MAJOR heatwave in our area. We are most pleased to learn that they "made out fine with fans provided".

The special character of the 83 year old home does not lend itself to air-conditioning. The
large trees that shade the entire property and the expanse of water usually provide a refreshing breeze.

heaven on earth

My cousins and I recently rented this home to celebrate a family birthday, and were entirely delighted with the experience. You never really know what you're getting when you rent a house online, and this home fully exceeded our expectations. The property itself is gorgeous - it is a large, charming home right on the water - and the bedrooms were ample and comfortable. The owners were equally wonderful, with an easy renting process and availability to answer questions as needed.

We had planned to do a number of activities while there but ultimately spent all of our time at the house kayaking, swimming, playing shuffleboard, taking walks, cooking, and just plain enjoying each other. It was truly a charmed visit for all of us, so much so that we are planning to return next year. I cannot recommend this property highly enough! Many thanks to Eileen for sharing her home with us.
