We love the beauty of lake views and boating. Lake Nacimiento, merely 800 ft above sea level, 5 miles as a bird flies to the ocean, inland from Cambria, San Simeon and Hearst Castle was the perfect alternative. The 'Dragon Lake' as they call it, because of its shape, is very unique; being more like a river than a static pool of water. The Lake is one of the fastest filling lakes in California, virtually replenishing itself every year, while boasting water temperatures in the 80's. The lake is large, 17 miles from tip to tail and provides dozens of tributaries that traverse the mountains, virtually allowing anyone to escape to their own private sanctuary. Homes are scarce leaving most of the surrounding shoreline in its natural state; rolling, grassy hills scattered with thriving multi-colored Oak trees, sandy beaches for picnicking, a plethora of animals; birds, eagles, hawks, cattle, deer and even turkeys. The climate is refreshing. While summer days can hit triple digits; the nights always provide cool relief, something you won’t enjoy at the Colorado River. Further, low ambient lighting at nights provides Planetarium level star gazing. The Milky Way stands out like a rainbow of white lights in the sky. The scenic 3.5 hour drive from Los Angelos along one of California's most beautiful road ways enables us to enjoy the unique beauty and pleasures of Ventura, Santa Barbara, Solvang, Pismo Beach, SLO and Paso Robles along the way. The more than 150 nearby vineyards, were icing on the cake. While not originally a motivation for buying, a day of wine tasting has become one of our most enjoyable pastimes. There are no limits to the fun that you can have and every visit leaves you wanting more.
The benefits are endless and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay at our home. It’s both adult and kid friendly; providing every amenity you would expect at your own home, and more. The community is friendly, walkers abound. There’s a large pool where you can relax, when you’re tired of the lake. Theres a 18 hole miniature golf course to enjoy with the kids, and a nearby campground to enjoy smores around a campfire. Nights are unusually quiet, absent the city noise that most of us have to endure. But the best benefit of all is the unobstructed 270 degree view from the decks. The fiery sunsets and multi dimensional views of the mountains and shimmering lake are picturesque and surreal. There isn't a more beautiful view in the area.
