ST. CROIX RIVER HOME WITH PRIVATE WATERFRONT

Stillwater House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

Enjoy a week on the water in our river home, a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located near two quaint towns along the majestic St. Croix River: Hudson, WI., and Stillwater, MN. We are just steps away from the water where a huge 12 foot by 40 foot dock awaits. If you don't feel like being outside, there is a large enclosed porch with huge windows to watch the boats slowly troll by. We have 100 feet of private frontage with a sandy beach and for those of you who worry about current, there is little, as the river is very wide and slow moving. The dock will no doubt provide hours of endless entertainment watching the boats lazily drift by. And the best part is that we are in a no wake zone, so there is no danger of boats speeding past and ruining your precious relaxation time.

Within a two minute bike ride, you can access the Afton bike trail and ride into the historic town of Afton for a huge wafflecone at Selma's or maybe you would prefer a martini at the Sail Away Cafe. You can even ride across the bridge into the state of Wisconsin to Hudson where there is excellent live theatre at the Phipps, or great dining along the river at the Pier 500 Restaurant.

We are also just a 10 minute drive from Stillwater, arguably Minnesota's greatest town, with its steep hills, great views, phenomenal antique shops and breathtaking paddleboats. There is so much to do, and so little time. One of our favorite things to do is have a cheese plate and glass of pinot noir at the Dock Cafe. Amazing food and great views. For those who like a fun place to hang out and listen to a band into the late hours of the night, PD Pappy's provides a great time.

Maybe you are an early riser, and would prefer a kayak ride (we have two). There is some amazing wild life to see. This morning, I saw a group of 12 egrets preening in a bay, and a pair of bald eagles were perched in a huge cottonwood above our home. If you love to fish, rumor has it that the walleyes bite often. We have some poles out on the porch, along with some lures. Best of luck and we can't wait to hear the fish stories.

We are also close to Interstate 94 and within 25 to 30 minutes you can be in St. Paul or Minneapolis where city life awaits. Why not take in a Twin's game, or go and see the new Guthrie Theatre, which is architecturally breathtaking. Maybe your goal is to see the place where Mary Tyler Moore threw her hat into the air. The options are limitless. There are even a couple of great shopping malls close by, either Woodbury Lakes, or the Mall of America.

Our home is definitely comfortable and clean, but not fancy. We wanted it to feel more like a cozy cabin than a city home. However, with 2600 square feet of finished space, you will have ample room to move around and enjoy your surroundings. We do have the kitchen stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc..., and we hope that you can whip up some great meals to enjoy on the huge lower level porch. We are close by and can be easily reached if there is anything else that you might need. We want your experience to be a pleasant one.

My wife and I always joke about how we came to own this house. It started with her saying she wanted a boat. That led to me buying a truck, which led to us renting a slip, which led to much frustration and expense, which led to me looking for property, which left her saying, 'All I wanted was a boat.' We bought our home when our boys were young and wanted them to grow up with great memories of life on the river. They spent countless hours jumping on the Rave trampoline, swimming with their friends and learning to navigate a boat on the St. Croix. We have never regretted living in this beautiful river valley and can't wait to share it with you.

JT purchased this house in 1999

-my grandparents had a cottage in Lake St. Croix Beach, and as a child, there was no place better to be than going to spend some time with them on the river. My uncle continued the tradition and purchased their cottage and we continued the to enjoy the St. Croix valley. When I grew up, and finally had the chance to purchase some waterfront property, I knew there was only once place for me: the St. Croix.

-life jackets -bike trail -kayaking -fishing -sandy beach -huge dock -option to park your boat -no wake zone -friendly neighbors -quiet road -easy access to Hwy. 94 -children's park one block away

Staying on the St, Croix River so close to several quaint towns was wonderful. The views were unbelievable, wish it had been warmer so that we could have sat outside. The house was great, plenty of sleeping room, some lovely antique furniture pieces. Beds, linens, towels were exceptional. Slept 7 comfortably. Would love to stay here again and use the porch more and the outside. Had a great time shopping in Afton, and the area. Lots of good restaurants if you don't want to cook.

Girls Weekend

We had a very enjoyable weekend at this home. It is very close to Stillwater, MN, and Hudson, Wisc. The house was clean and neat. The owner was only a phone call away if we had questions. The photos are accurate and that is why we chose this house for our "girls weekend". I would recommend it!

Wonderful riverfront property! Five of us enjoyed the house, and more so the dock, while in the area for a triathlon. Owners were very helpful and prompt in their responses to my questions. The house had everything we needed to make our stay fabulous! (Just wish we would have discovered the water floaties before we left)
We spent hours on the dock watching the river traffic.
Easy to find, right off of I-94, and close to Stillwater, Afton and Hudson.

If you are from the area, but don't live there any more this is a great place for you to have your own space! It's very clean, right on the river, and the owners are very accommodating. It's right off Inerstate 94 and easy for your friends/family to come and visit. It's an awesome place to entertain as well. We were able to hit all our old favorite restaurants too. Yes, there is a constant hum from the Hwy, but you can just put the box fan in the window and you don't hear a thing or turn on the A/C if necessary. If you want a more tranquil vacation spot then I would suggest their other rental property on the other side of the river midway between Houlton and Hudson. Property # 413876.

Rented the cabin for a family get-together. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and already talking about returning next year. The cabin offers an excellent view of the river and well equipped with the necessary ammenities. The location is excellent with great access to I-94 and the airport. The people of the area are very friendly and make you feel welcome. Highly recommended.
