Disappointed

We were somewhat disappointed in this property. For that amount of money, you expect a higher quality. We felt the website was misleading; the house is not right on the beach. There is a road between the house & the beach, which is a problem for us, as we had several small children. The idea that it was directly on the beach/lake was one of the main reasons we rented the house. The only window in 1 bedroom didn't open at all, which is unacceptable in a summer home. The remote control didn't work; again, this may seem small, but for that amount of money, it is a reasonable expectation. My father is 81 years old & cannot be getting up & down all the time. The showers were not very good. The house was not very clean & the gazebo was completely unusable; it was covered with bugs, spiders, dirt, and webs. Of course, the house & gazebo will have some bugs/spiders, but the gazebo looks as though it had never been hosed down or cleaned. The house also has a considerable rodent problem. There was no evidence of any effort to control that. The floors are extremely flimsy, noisy, and in the mother-in-law house, the floors are completely uneven, cheap, and actually wavy.
On the positive side, the beach and firepit were great. The raft was useless, because it was absolutely covered in goose droppings.
This is just not worth the money.
