Black Lake is a 10,000+ acre lake well known for sturgeon, walleye, musky, and pike. Swimming, snorkeling, taking a ride in the rowboat, or simply relaxing in the water is at its best with the golden sandy bottom that remains shallow for quite a distance. Settle in with a good book and soak up the sun on your own sandy beach. In the evenings, sit around the fire pit and take in all the beautiful stars. And in the morning, enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the lake as you drink your morning coffee on the screen porch or at the beach or on the dock. You can bring your own boat or use the row boats provided. The Log Cabin is a cozy 2-bedroom, 1 bath cabin that sleeps 6. It is just steps away from the beach and has a full kitchen with all amenities including Stove, Refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave & toaster oven. Cable TV & DVD player are also included. BBQ grill, fire pit & firewood are provided.

The cabin is a roomy 2-bedroom, 1 bath cabin that sleeps 6. This cabin has full kitchen with all the amenities including microwave, toaster oven & coffee pot. Other amenities are iron & ironing board, Cable T.V. & DVD player. BBQ grill, fire pit & firewood are also available for your convenience. Linens and kitchen towels are included. No bath towels provided. Amenities: All kitchen appliances including: Stove, Refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, toaster oven, utensils, blender, mixer, cookware, dishware, T.V, & DVD. Outdoor dining, beach, rowboat with 4 Life preservers, dock, extra tie out for boat, 2 boat hoist for fishing boats under 18 ft. BBQ grill, fire pit, firewood & lawn chairs.

Activities: For the summer months we offer fishing & swimming just outside your door with private beach, dock & fishing boat Cheboygan is 15 miles north for shopping, and many fine restaurants, or the ferryboat to Bois Blanc Island. Mackinaw City is just 40 minutes away. Elk viewing is 15 miles south. If golfing is your pleasure, there are plenty of courses within a 40-minute drive. If you are a UAW member, your just 4 miles from the UAW golf center. Other Golf Courses include: Cheboygan Golf & country Club, Indian River Golf Club, Mackinaw Club, Maple Ridge Club, Rippling River Golf Club, & Wild Wood Lakes to name a few. For the winter months, Black Mountain Resort is just around the lake & offers 30 miles of hiking & skiing trails, 80 miles of snowmobile trails & 65 acres of scramble area for motorcycles & ATV’s, and of course, all the ice fishing you can handle.

If dining out is your pleasure, Lorenzo’s is just 2 miles south, UAW is just 4 miles for fine dining, 211 Bar & family dining is 5-6 miles around the south end of the lake, on of course, 211 near the state park. Up & around to the North East side of the lake is the Bluffs & for fine dining again, The Chateau out near twin Lakes is about 10 miles North. Whatever your pleasure is, you’re sure to find it around the lake or in town.

This was the perfect getaway for my family. My children had a great time playing on their own beach. The water was sandy and NO WEEDS. There was enough campfire wood for plenty of Indian fires. More than what we would have bought with those expesive little bundles. The cabin was clean and well maintained. More amenities than was listed on their website. A lot of little things that we didn't have to buy. Looking forward to going back next year. I would recommend this to everyone.

bitter ending to an otherwise enjoyable stay

we had a lovely stay in "quaint" cottage #1. small, but very cute. the owner provided lots of attention to the details that make being away from home more pleasant. everything provided except towels and food! the surprise came after we had contacted the owners asking about rates and availability in anticipation of returning next year - when we opened our mail we found that they had kept 1/4 of our deposit to cover cleaning up after us. we are a neat, clean retired couple and unless they are charging for dusting the furniture and washing the linens they provided, which I feel should be part of their cost-of-doing-business, I cannot imagine what they think our rental fee for the week was supposed to cover. we had cleaned the floors several times, due to the sand being tracked in. we'll go back to Black Lake, but we'll rent from someone else. we especially enjoyed the fishing and driving around the "north country. we saw lots of deer and turkeys. dining on the screened in porch was the best, but if you want to eat out, the Woodwinds restaurant in Onaway is wonderful, whether you order from the menu or have their buffet (generous). we did not care for the pizza at Lorenzo's Lounge, but there seemed to be quite a few locals in there during our visit.
