The original owner built several houses in the neighborhood. He kept the biggest lot for himself. We continue to make many updates to improve this one-of-a-kind beauty. This is an old house and does have it's quirks!

About San Carlos:

It is a tiny town - less than 6 square miles. After WWII, San Carlos experienced it's first growth spurts, becoming a popular suburban destination. In 1944, Dalmo Victor established the city's first large electronics plant, followed soon by Eitel McCullough. Establishment of these two firms quadrupled the population. We are now home to several technology companies, as well as many biotech and medical instrumentation firms. San Carlos is the northern end of Silicon Valley. Current population: 28,406

The climate here is ideal ... a little south of the fog, so it's usually sunny ... close enough to the coast to stay cool in the summer. Nice quiet street, yet close to everything in the Bay Area. Great walkable location... convenience abounds! Plenty of room to relax. Great home for entertaining guests. Large front lawns with fruit trees. Huge backyard with in-ground swimming pool.

GREAT HOME TO VACATION IN

A wonderful home in a great neighborhood location. The house was very clean with tasteful modern updates and included everything you needed. We enjoyed the great kitchen space preparing meals was easy and the area large enough for all to be together. Staying here a week gave us the time to explore Stanford, Santa Cruz and San Francisco. There is easy access to the 101, I-280, Caltrain, BART. Many restaurants within walking distance along Laurel Street; Trader Joe's walking distance and the park was great fun for kids as well as the pool and BBQ.
The owners are responsive and easy to work with, promptly responded to emails and questions. On our next trip we hope to book again.

GREAT HOME AWAY FROM HOME

A wonderful home in a great neighborhood location. The house was very clean with tasteful modern updates that enhance the ambiance of the "classic 30s" architecture. We enjoyed the great kitchen space and made most of our meals. Staying here a week allowed us to feel what it would be like to live in the Bay area. There is easy access to the 101, I-280, Caltrain, BART. Easy to explore the Bay area in all directions. Many restaurants within walking distance along Laurel Street; Trader Joe's walking distance. We walked to Burton Park almost daily with our grandson--the playground is great!
The owners are very easy to work with and promptly responded to emails and questions. Thank you for sharing your rental home with us!

GREAT FAMILY STAY

This classic home was very comfortable and stylish. Though showing some signs of age, nothing interfered with our enjoyment of the house and grounds. Lots of open space and eating areas, so we never felt crowded. Terrific kitchen, contemporary, well-stocked with very high-end appliances and well-designed to accommodate 2-3 cooks. Media offerings included two TV set-ups and free easy-to-access wi-fi. We enjoyed the backyard and pool area because we had lovely weather. Excellent location - walking distance to Trader Joe's and numerous eateries and an amazing children's playground. Our hostess was helpful and responded quickly when contacted. We would definitely stay here again.

NICE HOME FOR RELAXING WITH ACTIVE FAMILY

Lots of space and light and air. Clean and bright. No surprises. We stayed for about a week.

The layout of the house is good for gathering together and for getting away from each other, too. The kitchen (with dining table), family room, and formal dining room are adjoining so when we hosted the extended family for dinner a couple of times we could all eat and hang out easily together. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking for a large group and it is laid out to serve buffet style so easily on the center island.

The bedrooms are distributed so that one can lay down and be well away from the action for a nap or a long sleep in. That was great because we had two young children in the group who needed midday rest.

The pool was enjoyed, though we didn't have hot days. We grilled in the backyard a couple of times, too.

When a lot of little cousins were around we ended up having great fun on the front lawn. The kids had balls to kick around and they played chase and wrestling as we old timers looked on snapping photos. The children also enjoyed the playground that was a couple of blocks away.

None of us watched TV, but we made full use of the good WiFi to get maps and traffic info for our outings.

The owner is a sweetheart. She was welcoming and helpful throughout, though we didn't really need to ask much - just what to do for trash pick up. Then, when I inadvertently mistook our departure day (thinking we had one more day - don't ask!) the owner was very calm and helpful as my family and I put on the quickest packing and tidying up effort imaginable.

We would certainly rent this home again and would recommend it to friends and family.

PERFECT HOUSE FOR OUR STAY

We rented this house in San Carlos for two and a half weeks for a
family holiday. We have family in the area and wanted to be centrally located and San Carlos was perfect. The house was great. Slightly quirky but very well equipped, not only with appliances but also with things like shampoo, garbage bags, dishwasher tablets, kitchen towel - enough of everything for our whole stay. The kitchen was fantastic with a wonderful stove and the family room was comfortable with cable TV. The house has good, reliable wifi. The pool was a really good asset, as was the hot tub - the pool was used a lot as we had a heatwave while we were there. The basement area of the house is not quite as good as the upper floor but we didn't really need to us it. All the beds were incredibly comfortable and the main shower room was great too. It could use updating downstairs, particularly the bathroom but non of this was a problem. The house was very clean and the only maintenance issues were some of the windows were hard to open but then it's an old house.

The house is located in a great location - within easy walking distance to Laurel Street, which has lots of lovely restaurants, bars etc. It was also an easy walk to Trader Joe's and a very short drive to Luckys. The Caltrain is right there too if you want an easy trip up to the city. The area is safe and friendly.

I would definitely rent this house again as it provided everything we needed for our holiday. It has a lovely open, spacious feel with plenty of room, even when we had lots of family over. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Over all the property was a great find and I would certainly rent it again. It was a brilliant base for our holiday.

We had a long stay (one month) at this property. The location is great - close to supermarkets and restaurants, many walking distance. There were some very good restaurants in Laurel Street and many different cuisine choices.

The house had plenty of space, which worked well for us because we were 3 families all together, flying from different parts of the world. There are 3 sitting areas, a pool in the back (which was great for barbecues), and plenty of parking.

Eileen was easily reached and would come over right away when something needs to be fixed.

It would be nicer though, if there was another toilet and bath.

Our family had a great stay and would rent the property again, if we want to stay in the same area.
