The original owner built several houses in the neighborhood. He kept the biggest lot for himself. We continue to make many updates to improve this one-of-a-kind beauty. This is an old house and does have it's quirks!
About San Carlos:
It is a tiny town - less than 6 square miles. After WWII, San Carlos experienced it's first growth spurts, becoming a popular suburban destination. In 1944, Dalmo Victor established the city's first large electronics plant, followed soon by Eitel McCullough. Establishment of these two firms quadrupled the population. We are now home to several technology companies, as well as many biotech and medical instrumentation firms. San Carlos is the northern end of Silicon Valley. Current population: 28,406

The climate here is ideal ... a little south of the fog, so it's usually sunny ... close enough to the coast to stay cool in the summer. Nice quiet street, yet close to everything in the Bay Area. Great walkable location... convenience abounds! Plenty of room to relax. Great home for entertaining guests. Large front lawns with fruit trees. Huge backyard with in-ground swimming pool.
I do business with a company in Redwood City, and the area has a poor choice of hotels that are overpriced ($300 for a Country Inn or Holiday Inn Express) and they are typically sold out. I found this gem of a house, and it will become my #1 choice for any subsequent trips to the area. Location is great: you can walk to the restaurants and shops on Laurel St in San Carlos, and access to Route 101 is about 5 minutes away. The amenities were great -- comfy beds, great shower, beautiful kitchen, WiFi, 2 living rooms. It was a little too cool to sit outside by the pool, but it looked inviting. The neighborhood was pretty and quiet. You have to climb steps to get to the front door, so keep that in mind if that is an issue.
My wife, newborn daughter, and mother-in-law and I stayed at this wonderful place. Very nice kitchen with high end commercial appliances. comfortable bed. renovated large tiled shower and bathroom. it was perfect for our needs. this is the entire upper level of the house. the basement is rented by another tenant. pool is old, not perfectly clean, but not disgusting. house furnishes chairs and lounge chairs to lay around the pool.
we rented the house for about a week. and it really fit our needs. it was well prepared from everything. I will start with the kitchen, it was in a very good condition and my really liked it. she found all she needed like the kitchen stuff and the spices except the grocery stuff for sure. rooms were cleaned and have all what we needed. there were extra blanked and pillows, and a nice extra foam mattress. it has two living rooms with fire place for each and one dining room. all of them were nice organized and well cleaned. the pool and the backyard were clean and nice; however, the wall of the pool needs more cleaning because it has spots.
the location is good. it's between San Fransisco and San Jose. So, you don't need to travel a lot to go to everything around you. there are shops, park, grocery markets, some banks, and etc close to you. walking distance from the house to most of them.
because we care about other people comfort who are living down stair, we were very careful when we are walking especially at night. the house makes noises when you walk and needs to be fixed and some of the windows as well, which is normal for a house has been built in 1930s.
last but not least, the house is what you are looking for in general.
A wonderful home in a great neighborhood location. The house was very clean with tasteful modern updates and included everything you needed. We enjoyed the great kitchen space preparing meals was easy and the area large enough for all to be together. Staying here a week gave us the time to explore Stanford, Santa Cruz and San Francisco. There is easy access to the 101, I-280, Caltrain, BART. Many restaurants within walking distance along Laurel Street; Trader Joe's walking distance and the park was great fun for kids as well as the pool and BBQ.
The owners are responsive and easy to work with, promptly responded to emails and questions. On our next trip we hope to book again.

We enjoyed the great kitchen space and made most of our meals. Staying here a week allowed us to feel what it would be like to live in the Bay area. There is easy access to the 101, I-280, Caltrain, BART. Easy to explore the Bay area in all directions. Many restaurants within walking distance along Laurel Street; Trader Joe's walking distance. We walked to Burton Park almost daily with our grandson--the playground is great!

This classic home was very comfortable and stylish. Though showing some signs of age, nothing interfered with our enjoyment of the house and grounds. Lots of open space and eating areas, so we never felt crowded. Terrific kitchen, contemporary, well-stocked with very high-end appliances and well-designed to accommodate 2-3 cooks. Media offerings included two TV set-ups and free easy-to-access wi-fi. We enjoyed the backyard and pool area because we had lovely weather. Excellent location - walking distance to Trader Joe's and numerous eateries and an amazing children's playground. Our hostess was helpful and responded quickly when contacted. We would definitely stay here again.
