Streamside Cabin is a darling cozy mountain cabin located right next to a stream in the mountains of Placer Vallley. The home is only 15 miles from Colorado’s world-class Breckenridge ski resort. Copper Mountain, Keystone, and A-Basin are also less than 30 minutes away. Access to the main highway (Highway 9) is less than 5 minutes so there are no long drives on dirt roads to get to all of the fun activities in the area.

The home has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The master bedroom has a queen bed with the bath right next to the bedroom. The other bedroom has two twin bunks and a full size bed. The living room has gorgeous mountain views and a cozy gas stove. There is satellite TV with a DVD and VCR player. There is also a stereo system with an I-Pod Dock. There is a full kitchen with utensils and everything you need provided and a dining area that seats 4 people. If you bring your pet, please let us know and we request that the pet be kenneled at night and when you are away from the home. The back mud room is a perfect place for a kennel. It is inside and heated. The deck is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the mountain views and listen to the rushing stream.

The roads are county maintained all winter and the driveway is maintained (not steep) if needed after each snowfall. Four-wheel drive is a must for this area as we do get some heavy snowfalls and you will want to drive around to see the beautiful winter countryside.

You will be surrounded by outdoor and indoor activities. Whether your passion is skiing, shopping, hunting, ice-fishing, or horseback riding, you will find the best of the best within minutes of the home. There are two lakes within 5-10 minutes of the home as well as old mines, hiking trails, snowshoeing, and 4-wheel trails. Montgomery Lake and Lincoln Falls are within one mile of he home. One of the best ice-climbing areas in Colorado is right by Montgomery Lake. We will be happy to arrange sleigh rides, winter horseback riding, skiing, or ice fishing. We purchased this home in October 2007 after living in Colorado for just two years. We love having a little getaway place that is close to our home, yet feels so far away from the city of Denver.

Why Susan Bigham chose Alma

We enjoy fishing in the valley pond and at Montgomery Reservoir, going on hikes right out our back door, and visiting Alma, Fairplay, and Breckenridge. Sometimes we just stay at the cabin all day and watch the wildlife - we have seen foxes, porcupines, hummingbirds, deer, bear, and moose right out the windows! Day trips to Turquoise Lake, Buena Vista, Salida, and Twin Lakes are easy and fun. It sure is nice NOT having to take 70 to and from our cabin and dealing with the interstate traffic. At night, we always leave the windows open so we can hear the soothing sound of Moose Creek while we sleep.

What makes this cabin unique

The close proximity to Breckenridge with the added benefit of peace and solitude are the main benefit of being near Alma. The home is near 5 of the main "Fourteeners" which just adds to the beauty of the location and provides so many unique outdoor activities like mountain climbing, hiking, 4-wheel roads, ghost town exploration, ice climbing, and fishing just to name a few.

This home has a fantastic deck with panoramic Mountain Views, private stream access and 1 wood fireplace in the living room. It is a quick 15 minute drive to Breckenridge Ski Resort. Montgomery Lake is less than 2 miles away as well as old mine ruins to explore and Lincoln Falls. You can hike and snowshoe right from the property. There is world-class ice climbing within 2 miles as well. In the summer and fall, you can fish in Montgomery Reservoir which is stocked each year and is one of the best trout fishing spots in Colorado. The 4-wheel drive trails are also well know in this area. Most of the 4- wheeling clubs meet each weekend right by Montgomery Reservoir to begin their trips.

What a wonderful place. We really enjoyed our stay and our walks down the road. Especially enjoyed our breakfast and dinner out on the deck with that great view. Hearing the creek at night was so peaceful. What really impressed us was how clean the cabin was, it was spotless and everything we needed was provided, we just had to bring our food!! Loved the place and will definitely like to stay there again.

We wanted to get away from the Front Range heat in July, and this place was perfect. It is secluded and quiet, just as the discription says (which isn't always the case). The bath has been updated and the kitchen had everything we needed. The stream was flowing strong and the sound was so nice to sleep and read by.

Our only complaint would be that the furniture could be updated and the place would be close to perfect if the carpet was replaced in the living area, or made a hard surface like wood or tile.
Over we loved it and hope to return next year.
