We had a great time on Silver Lake. The cabin was very cozy and we liked the backyard. We liked going to the sand dunes, visiting the towns and boating on the lake. Everything was nearby too. Thanks for making your house perfect for our vacation!

We love to travel and have done so extensively with our two children. We have logged over 20,000 miles in our RV while taking our children to all fifty states. Even though we now we live in Black Mountain North Carolina, Traverse City is still considered one of the most beautiful places in the country in our book. We always look forward to spending time at the cabin because it is such a cozy and peaceful place.

Kurt & Emily Your Hosts purchased this cabin in 2000

As a native of Traverse City, I grew up enjoying the lakes around the area. I was thrilled when Kurt and I had the chance to buy this log cabin. We worked hard to update it by adding modern amenities without losing the character and charm and that 'up-north' feel. It is just ten minutes to downtown Traverse City, yet you feel like you are away from it all. Traverse City offers such a great quality of life along with many wonderful local shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Our favorite thing to do during our stay at the cabin is pack up a picnic lunch and take a cruise around the lake on the pontoon boat. With the boat conveniently docked at the private sandy beach, there is little effort to enjoying the beauty of Silver Lake. This pristine, all sports lake, is the closest lake to Traverse City with easy access to everything. Our evenings usually consist of cooking delicious steaks from our family market, Burritt's Fresh Market while watching the fabulous sunsets. We always end the evening with a campfire next to the lake listening to the frogs and loons. Life doesn't get any better than that!

Lovely log Cabin Vacation

  • 5 of 5
The memories of our week at the log cabin will stay with me for many years- morning coffee by the lake, beautiful sunsets, fishing, lovely walks around the area, windsurfing and 7 wonderful days away from city life. Seven of us stayed comfortably in the cottage, 3 teenagers, the grandparents and us. The cottage worked very well meeting all of our needs; the kitchen had everything you could ask for, chairs at the beach and on the deck, even the towels and sheets were all nicely folded upon our arrival. We ventured off to Traverse City, Sutton's Bay and the Sand Dunes, all of which were quite close to the cottage. It was truly a vacation to remember.

Great for families

  • 4 of 5
Our boys had a wonderful time fishing, swimming, and using the row boat. The cabin is a perfect size for a group of 6: our boys loved the bunk beds and the (stuffed animal-like) bear rug in the room facing the lake. The proximity to Traverse City was wonderful, too. This was our first rental experience and the owner made everything easy!

Such a beautiful lakefront cottage. Pictures are accurate, plenty of room to run around. Great fire pit. Couldn't have asked for more. I would LOVE to visit again. Thank you so much. Honestly, the best birthday I have ever had. :-)

Our Family Weekend

  • 5 of 5
My family and I were looking to vacation in Traverse City but wanted to all be together. There were 6 adults and two kids. When we first came across this cabin on the web, I was nervous because there were a lot of people going to be crammed into a little bitty cabin for four days. Well, When we arrived I can tell you I was pleasantly pleased. I am very critical of many things and get disappointed very easily. We spent 4 days and 3 nights at the cabin, and we never felt crowded once. We all had our own space to sleep, with lots of room to hang out on the deck or by the camp fire during the day. We decided to just cook for ourselves over the weekend, and all of the necessities we needed were provided. The entire time I am writing this review, I am trying to find one negative thing to say but just cannot. Oh wait, I got one. There was a wild turkey that flew onto our boat while it was docked and pooped on it. Hmmm, that's about the extent of the negativity as I have. I home was definitely authentic as described, but very clean and did not smell moldy or mildewy as most cabins do. We had no problem laying down a play mat and letting our 5 month old crawl and roll all over the floor. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with a party of 6 to 7 people as we had.

We stayed 9-14-12 through 9-17-12 but the review thing wouldn't let me put that date in.

Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5
My family enjoyed a wonderful week on peaceful Silver Lake. The cabin was clean, well decorated and had everything we needed. The contact person who prepared the cabin before our stay was friendly and helpful. Our children enjoyed playing in the sand, swimming in the shallow water and evenings by the fire pit. We all enjoyed taking the boat on Silver Lake to swim, fish and explore. The location was near so many great sites - we enjoyed many trips to the sand dunes, Traverse City and other nearby towns. We even went to a Traverse City Beach Bums game at the nearby stadium. We highly recommend this rental and will definitely be back!
