We love to travel and have done so extensively with our two children. We have logged over 20,000 miles in our RV while taking our children to all fifty states. Even though we now we live in Black Mountain North Carolina, Traverse City is still considered one of the most beautiful places in the country in our book. We always look forward to spending time at the cabin because it is such a cozy and peaceful place.

Kurt & Emily Your Hosts purchased this cabin in 2000

As a native of Traverse City, I grew up enjoying the lakes around the area. I was thrilled when Kurt and I had the chance to buy this log cabin. We worked hard to update it by adding modern amenities without losing the character and charm and that 'up-north' feel. It is just ten minutes to downtown Traverse City, yet you feel like you are away from it all. Traverse City offers such a great quality of life along with many wonderful local shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Our favorite thing to do during our stay at the cabin is pack up a picnic lunch and take a cruise around the lake on the pontoon boat. With the boat conveniently docked at the private sandy beach, there is little effort to enjoying the beauty of Silver Lake. This pristine, all sports lake, is the closest lake to Traverse City with easy access to everything. Our evenings usually consist of cooking delicious steaks from our family market, Burritt's Fresh Market while watching the fabulous sunsets. We always end the evening with a campfire next to the lake listening to the frogs and loons. Life doesn't get any better than that!

Lovely log Cabin Vacation

The memories of our week at the log cabin will stay with me for many years- morning coffee by the lake, beautiful sunsets, fishing, lovely walks around the area, windsurfing and 7 wonderful days away from city life. Seven of us stayed comfortably in the cottage, 3 teenagers, the grandparents and us. The cottage worked very well meeting all of our needs; the kitchen had everything you could ask for, chairs at the beach and on the deck, even the towels and sheets were all nicely folded upon our arrival. We ventured off to Traverse City, Sutton's Bay and the Sand Dunes, all of which were quite close to the cottage. It was truly a vacation to remember.

Such a beautiful lakefront cottage. Pictures are accurate, plenty of room to run around. Great fire pit. Couldn't have asked for more. I would LOVE to visit again. Thank you so much. Honestly, the best birthday I have ever had. :-)

We had a great time on Silver Lake. The cabin was very cozy and we liked the backyard. We liked going to the sand dunes, visiting the towns and boating on the lake. Everything was nearby too. Thanks for making your house perfect for our vacation!

We had such a marvelous time at the “log cabin” as my 5-year old niece called it all the time. It was her first experience sleeping on a bunk bed and she loved it!
The cabin is beautifully restored with so much attention to detail. Truly felt like a vacation hide-a-way. We loved having smores at the campfire each night and feeding the fish. It was a wonderful time and we definitely hope to be back. Blessings

Total Heaven

Ahhhhh….relaxing is the only way to describe our vacation and of course too short. We all loved the cabin and it’s kitchy comfortness. All the little nick-nacks were cool and perfectly appointed. Also, sitting around the fire pit and roasting marshmallows was such a throw back to my childhood! My wife and her dad enjoyed fishing right here on the lake. My wife caught every fish, ok, 7 and even a little turtle. She was in total heaven. Thanks for the pontoon rental as well. The whole family enjoyed fishing and spending the day on the boat. None of us wanted to leave today. Looking forward to enjoying another vacation up here at the cabin.
