About Allison Howard

We purchased this little house in 2007 and completely refurbished it from top to bottom putting our carpentry skills and design talents to good use. We had moved to Penticton in 2005 and fell in love with the beauty of the Okanagan Valley. Our goal is to provide a relaxing and comfortable home with all the conveniences to make you feel at home. The compliment we most love to hear is; 'you thought of everything!' In December 2010, we became the first legally licensed vacation rental in Penticton.

Allison Howard purchased this house in 2007

Why Allison Howard chose Penticton

We had always loved the little flat roofed houses that are common in this area so when this little house came up for sale on our street we purchased it for a rental. However after putting 6 months of work and money into it, we realized we wanted to share it with friends and family and others who would appreciate the work we had done. The house is a natural for a vacation rental as it is so close to the beach and downtown areas. For the first three years we offered our little vacation rental house just by word of mouth and since 2010 we have listed on VRBO which had been highly recommended to us.

What makes this house unique

Convenient location to access all amenities and local attractions, meticulous care, private, relaxing back yard. 4 fluffy bathrobes provided; also fresh ground coffee, tea and cooking spices always on hand.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It's no big surprise the Canucks have decided to stay home for training camp in 2011 considering all the travelling they did during the playoffs, but it's a bit of a letdown for the KB, as we had a lovely time in Penticton last September. Halford booked this cozy little cottage away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area, and it was just a really nice getaway, you know?Seriously, we stayed here. Cost about half as much as a hotel room and it came with a free bottle of wine.

All the comforts of home!

Our stay at the Casa del Sol was absolutely perfect! We loved the proximity to town, the lake, and access to the KVR. We spent many mornings on the front porch having coffee and evenings in the back yard around the BBQ. No detail was left unattended and the hose has everything you could think of to enjoy your vacation. we would have loved to return next year but alas someone else has already pre booked this gem. We will definitely return

CASA CUTIE!

  • 5 of 5
We've only been home a couple of days and are still scratching our heads over our luck at booking such a charming place to stay in Penticton. The owners have thought of everything possible to make their guests comfortable. Feeling right at home from our first step inside this well thought out cottage, we completely enjoyed our stay. The home, the town, the weather, the golf (well---at least some holes), were PERFECT! Thanks so much. We'll definitely be returning to this quaint little Eden.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5
We had a great week end exploring the city, wineries and golfing. All five of us ladies fit just fine into this cute little house so perfectly located in town. We walked to dinner at the cubbyhole greek restaurant which was awesome and the beautiful waterfront area. If we return next year we will definitely try and secure this property again!

The perfect place to stay for wine touring

  • 5 of 5
Our group (two couples) stayed at Casa del Sol for five nights this October as part of our visit to the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival. It was the perfect choice! The house is adorable...lovingly restored, beautifully landscaped and stocked with all sorts of thoughtful touches and amenities...from a welcome gift of wine, tea and coffee and fresh fruit, to fluffy white bath robes, to a great selection of movies to watch in the evenings. Everything we could possibly need was there for us. The location was also perfect for our needs. Situated in downtown Penticton, we were able to easily walk to the local farmers market, down to the lake or out to dinner. We were also centrally located in the midst of the Okanagan's many fine wineries. It was an easy drive to Naramata, Oliver and Kelowna. Overall we had a fabulous stay and the house was just perfect. It was such a treat coming back every evening after our tours and making dinner together in the well-stocked kitchen. And the yard was a lovely and sunny place to enjoy our morning coffee. We had such a good time, we've all agreed we'd like to come back and do it all again. I should mention that the owners, Dave and Allison, are lovely hosts. They made us feel so welcome. If you're planning a trip to the Okanagan, I highly recommend Casa del Sol for your accommodation!

What a find!

  • 5 of 5
Conveniently located, perfectly clean, nicely furnished, more than well-equipped. But enough about me.

Visiting from Ontario, Casa del Sol was just the base my wife and I needed for our busy week in Penticton. Everything was better than advertised. We were able to entertain some friends with wine and a BBQ, which saved a few restaurant bills. No need to think twice - you'll be a hero to your travelling companions for picking this place!

Winter Home

  • 5 of 5
The Casa del Sol was a wonderful place to spend the winter! As a ski instructor at Apex Mountain Resort, it was perfect for the two of us. With only one vehicle, if I was working, my wife could walk to almost every location she needed; shopping, fitness centre, the lake, or many restaurants. Our host, Allison and Dave have equiped their property with everything necesary to have a comfortable stay, and they were always available if we needed anything. Highly Recommended!!!
