The Adobe House is happily situated at the headquarters of the Babacomari Ranch, an historic Spanish Land Grant privately owned by the Brophy family for the past eighty years. A nearby family dwelling offers a secure and welcoming setting. As a working cattle ranch, livestock roam the beautiful countryside, and horses at the barn offer their noses for a friendly petting.
The House comfortably sleeps six in the Queen, King, and Twin bedrooms. There are two full bathrooms, and for larger parties a Queen sofa sleeper, and two roll-away beds will increase the accommodations to sleep ten. Satellite TV and WiFi will keep you plugged in if you choose. And a courtyard patio, lawn and garden, gas grill and portable fire-pit make for good leisure time outside.
The Babacomari Creek runs through the property with a lush riparian habitat that is home to abundant wildlife and provides excellent bird watching. There is also seasonal fishing in the pond or Babacomari Creek, and miles of mountain biking & hiking trails. Horseback riding is available with a local outfitter, or you may bring your horses with you and lodge them for an additional fee.
Chosen for its landscape beauty, the Babacomari Ranch has been the film-site for several movies such as Tombstone, Oklahoma, and Red River.
The nearby Elgin/Sonoita communities are home to award winning Wineries, shops, and restaurants. A little further down the road Patagonia also offers eclectic art galleries, shops and eateries. Tucson is 60 miles to the North. Nogales, AZ + Sonora, Mexico is 45 miles to the West. Sierra Vista, world renowned Ramsey Canyon (bird watching), and Ft. Huachuca is 35 miles to the East. Beyond you’ll find Bisbee, formerly home of the Copper Queen Mine, now a “bohemian” artists’ colony, and Tombstone, with it's window to the old wild, wild west.

Recently rented this 3bd/2ba ranch house for a hunting excursion in the area and found it to be a perfect home base for the weekend. Clean, comfortable, well appointed and ideally located away from city noise and lights. Includes walled front porch with fire pit and propane grill. Best if you enjoy and plan to do your own cooking, although a few good restaurants are accessible (20 minutes).
Perfect overnight for sightseeing, bird watching horseback riding, hunting or winery tours. Owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating.
My husband and I were attending our trail riding club's annual get together and rather than camp out we decided to rent the house with two other people. Marvelous!! On arrival Bridget greeted us and directed us to where our horses were to be stalled. She provided water buckets and even some bedding for the inside stalls. So we only had to provide feed. Plenty of water was available.
We found the house in excellent condition, clean and tidy and there were plenty of towels, bed linens etc. Bridget and her cousin were very hospitable and the heaters worked well for the cool nights. The trail riding is excellent and Bridget willing shares trails and history of the ranch etc.
We hope to be back next year on our own with a smaller group.
Definitely to be recommended.
My boyfriend and I rented the house for a four day weekend with another couple. What a wonderful trip! When we arrived at the property, Bridget greeted us on horseback and immediately made us feel at home. The rustic accommodations were perfect for tuning out and taking a break from hectic life. Beautiful landscape, tons of wildlife, millions of stars at night. Our tours of the wineries were too much fun! A must stay if you are needing a true escape. We are already scheduling our next trip!
We shared this house with another family for a getaway from the city. The house was very comfortable with plenty of room and privacy. We had a great time exploring the beautiful property. Wineries, Patagonia Lake, and Tombstone were all a short drive from the ranch. I would highly recommend this place...you won't be disappointed.
Guest at this property in early February for hunting trip. Beautiful and vintage AZ ranch. Very comfortable! Going to rebook for next year.
My hunting partner and I stayed on the Babacomari Ranch on February 7th and 8th while we were quail hunting near Elgin and Sonoita, AZ. We stayed in the Adobe house- terrific accomodations! I would highly recommend it in the future.
