Located on beautiful Little Bear Lake in Otsego County, you will enjoy the clear turquoise waters and white sandy beach just a few steps from the door. Little Bear Lake is an all sports lake so bring your boat and ski, fish, or just relax. You will have your own private dock right in front of the house. You are only steps away from the beach, perfect for keeping an eye on young children playing in the water. The Hideaway has 2100 sq ft. of air-conditioned living space. With five bedrooms and 2 baths you can comfortably sleep up to 12 people. The Master bedroom has a balcony with a panoramic view of the lake. The kitchen and family room provide a comfortable area to prepare meals and socialize. Outside, enjoy barbequing on the large spacious deck. What a memorable vacation!

Little Bear Lake Hideaway was the most perfect family holiday we have taken in the past few years. With 4 children under 5 there are not many places we can totally relax and they are entertained without major participation from us...at Little Bear Lake we all had a holiday!
The house was exactly as pictured and described. It was clean and very well appointed for our needs. Mike and Karen called the day of our arrival to ensure everything was ok and let us know they could be contacted if we had any isssues.
Our days were generally spent on the sandy beach reading while our children played in the water, on the sand or on the jetty. They loved going out in the row boat and also liked the challenge of paddling the canoe on their own. There were plenty of life jackets available too. The kids were delighted to see frogs, racoons and chipmunks day after day and they never once said they were bored or had nothing to do.
We used the facililites in Gaylord to buy food for the week at the enormous Walmart. Gaylord has everything you need and is about a 20 minute drive from the house. We went there once but outside of that we were very content hanging out at the house and lake.
The only thing that would have been fantastic was if we had a boat to take up there. It is a fantastic lake for tubing, skiiing and fishing but in saying that our kids were more than happy with what we had there!
I would reccomend this property without a moments hesitation. We will remember this vacation forever and hope to get back up there next year.
Our Little Bear Lake Hideaway vacation reminded me of the good old fashioned holidays families I used to take as a child before theme parks and condo holidays. It was back to basics.....chasing frogs, fishing with a worm on your hook and jumping off a jetty trying to make the biggest splash!
I cant wait to get back there!

Little Bear Lake Hideaway in early June 2008

A very nice vacation home. Exactly as described and pictured, and then some. Very well appointed in the kitchen, family room, bathrooms, and on the dock. Every kitchen utensil or appliance you could want was available. The game room was fun for the kids and there were plenty of board games, puzzles, and movies to stay busy during the night or rainy days.

Could have used Internet access to stay in touch with civilization and research local activities and establishments.

The house was very well suited for our two-family party of 10: 4 adults and 6 kids. The kayaks, canoe, and row boat were fun to use. Fishing was pretty good considering it was still early in the season. Plenty of pan fish and rock bass for the kids to catch on worms, and even a couple of larger smallmouth lunkers (up to 5lbs) caught on spin cast lures.
I do wish the row boat came with a small motor. The oars are too long for the boat and hard to use. There is a boat launch, but no local marina to hire a boat/motor.
It was very nice to have the house only about 20 steps up from the shore. Can keep an eye on the kids while sitting on the back deck or by the fire pit.
There are many stairs to and from the house and parking area. Not recommended for handicapped.
I would definitely recommend this property to a friend.
Add a boat motor and Internet, and I'd give it a rating of 5.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
