My boyfriend and I and my dog stayed here for three nights over Labor Day week 2012. It is really a lovely place. Having the river beneath you, hearing it at night, happy hour in the adirondeck chairs was the perfect tonic for a stressed out city girl. My dog got to play in the river and roll in the dirt (then play in the river to wash off again) and he was so happy he almost couldn't stand it. The large deck is exquisitely private and lovely and my boyfriend and I were so happy we almost couldn't stand it!. The house and furnishings are comfortable, the master bed and the shower were better than expected. This is a very rustic place in the best sense. The only things that we felt need improvement is a really deep cleaning - especially the kitchen - and smoke detectors that are in place and in working order, especially considering the open fireplace. My Great Pyrenees barked at a disturbance during the first night and we believe there was a bear visitor based on the tipped over trash can and marks in the dirt around it the next morning. Other than that, we saw only a couple of people and it was a lovely and easy retreat from Denver. We will return!!
