This is probably the nicest and most well prepared cottage I have rented in the past 10 years. It is open, bright, clean, well stocked and roomy. Twelve of us stayed with company dropping in for an overnight bringing us to 15 on one or two nights yet we never felt crowded.
The views, from any room, are a delight, gorgeous, and the location absolutely the most tranquil. I rarely saw or heard my neighbors.
Although it states 7 bedrooms, which are lovely, the cottage still feels cozy and I will easily try to rerent even with only my husband. It will not feel like we have too much space mainly because of the way the cottage is designed.
The kitchen is large so two or three people could work together without bumping into each other. It, and the pantry, contain just about any tool needed to make a meal plus the gas grill is available.
The private swimming hole was perfect for the kids after a day at the beach and kept them completely occupied while meals were prepared and as the adults relaxed. This private area also has canoes available for easy access to fishing or just paddling about in the cove. The yard is large enough for any games like hide and seek and also offers a fantastic hammock to lay in with a good book for total relaxation.
One big plus was the bottom floor which has a huge TV room and is a great place to have the kids watch TV allowing the adults some quiet time on the 1st floor without any concern.
Since we were renters we did not have a beach pass but beach access was just a quick walk over the bridge and there is a drop off for a large family. Next visit I will sign up for a beach pass just to make it easier for us to go back and forth, it is easy to do and cheap enough that it might be worth it.
Duxbury does not offer a huge selection of restaurants but both Brant Rock and Kingston are close enough which expands your options. A trip to the ice cream shop is a must - even a nightly event. There are lots of options for shopping both in Duxbury and close by in Marshfield.
This area also offers real easy access to historical sites like Plymouth Rock, the Alden House, and even Boston is just a 45 minute drive.
I would rate this a 10 easily and wouldn't have left - ever - if I could have stayed.
