Fred, as a teacher, is a life time learner. His passion is family, reading and sports. Marilly has a passion for family, birds, photography and traveling, visiting Nicaragua, The Netherlands, Germany & Italy. We both visited Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Switzerland, Aruba, Vancouver Island & Victoria BC, and Fred managed a sailing trip to Belize with our oldest son. To keep the international flavor in our home, we hosted exchange students including: two German, two Japanese, two Koreans, and one Colombian.
Besides our four vacation rentals, we own 2 Subway stores (in Portland, OR).
Marilly Morton purchased this cabin in 2006
We love the mountains, and Packwood is very like Switzerland, only the mountains are smaller and farther apart. It is in the center of Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, 7 miles from the southern entrance to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, and surround by Tatoosh, William O Douglass, and Goat Rocks Wilderness areas. There is a constant flow of wildlife including: elk, coyotes, raccoon, fox, black bear, bald eagles, beaver and more, and year round recreational activities.
We spent every weekend for almost a year in Hall Creek Cabin while we built the Rainier View Lodge. We really made it our home away from home. I enjoyed the hot tub under a star studded sky, the song of Hall Creek, wood smoke on the wind and the plethora of passing elk . . . what a combination! It's a great place to dream and build!
We had a very enjoyable weekend with our kids in this comfortable cabin. We have been several times as a couple for anniversary trips, but this was the first time with kids. The kids loved the hot tub and a short road trip to see DeGoede's bulb farm in Mossyrock. As usual the cabin was very clean and tidy and everything we needed was there. The owner is always very quick to contact us to make all the arrangements. As to be expected with a vacation rental we noted just a couple minor general upkeep things that were due to be done, so I let the owner know and she very promptly thanked me for my comments and let me know when those things were planned to be resolved. We will continue to return in the years ahead!
Great cabin and hot tub. The mountain was amazing and.the location and privacy was nice.
As the other reviews have stated, it was a perfect weekend away in the mountains to get together with family. Myself, sister, brother-in-law, niece and father really enjoyed the cabin and a weekend of relaxation and the great outdoors. A great spot to unwind with all the amenities we needed, and a beautiful region as well. The owners were very responsive and everything went effortlessly in terms of organizing the stay. Hope to return soon!
Our little family of 4 stayed in this nice and very clean cabin. It was perfect for the price.
We did enjoy the short drive to White Pass and the Pizza place in walking distance.
I did have a few questions once we arrived and the owner was very prompted to respond to my emails.
I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle and doesn't want to spend a fortune. We will be back for sure
The cabin was nice and clean. The owner is very responsive. It's about 20-25 minutes driving from White Pass. We stayed there during Christmas and the rate is higher than usual since it's holiday. There's no dish washer. No cell phone signal as informed. Luckily we had wifi and the speed was OK. Everything else is good. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to other people!
This is our second stay in this home. The owner is professional and prompt- also fair. The first time, we were accidentally directed to the wrong home, and had to move all our stuff out (there was a lot- it was the end of a 6 week trip) to another house. She compensated us by giving a 1/2 night credit. The house is always immaculate and well maintained. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is well stocked. Small hot tub is very comfortable. We also did not have to pay extra when we had a last minute addition to the party. 4 people are covered by the fee. The housekeeper lives on site- a nice bonus. We ran our of garbage bags (there was originally only 1 extra, and we were there for 5 nights), and she promptly gave us more, saving a trip to the store.
