For the sports minded there is swimming, sea kayaking, scuba diving, boating and surfing at the famous Boca Baranca beach. Cycling and running are popular pastimes of local people, with group excursions occurring on a weekly basis. Located in El Roble Puntarenas on the Golf of Nicoya a short distance from Ferry docks that heads west to the nicoya peninsula, which allows one to plan many day trips from our local. Costa Rica has preserved much of it's natural heritage in national parks such as the Carrara Natural Reserve, where you can watch monkeys playing in the trees, spot rare and colorful birds or just get some fresh air while hiking the extensive trails.
