On the grounds there is a pool with cabana, tennis, two gas barbecues, and plenty of room and lounges for just plain relaxing. The pool and cabana are located right on the oceanfront. There are three, three-story, main buildings. There are mostly seasonal owners, so it is rare that there is ever full occupancy. Our unit is on the east end of the second floor of the only oceanfront building. There are two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an oceanfront lanai. The ocean is only a few feet from the building. This well appointed second floor oceanfront condo with views to the pool and ocean is considered the best 2 bedroom rental unit available at Wavecrest.
There are remnants of Hawaiian fishponds along this shore and this is one of the only shores in Hawaii with a barrier reef. The reef keeps the waves down so there is generally calm water in the foreground with the reef break about one-fourth-mile off shore. Maui, Kahoolawe, and Lanai are in sight across Pailolo and Kalohi channels.
On a clear day, we've seen the big island of Hawaii. From January to April, Humpback whales return to these waters between the islands. They are often seen right off shore. It is a great place to kayak.
