Why The Owner chose Scituate
Minot is a wonderful family neighborhood with a low key and relaxed atmosphere. One side of our property looks out over the water to 'The Glades', also known as the 'Adams Estate', a mostly undeveloped peninsula with a gorgeous rocky coastline. We love paddling in the many little coves there and going to picturesque Cohasset Harbor where there are a few nice restaurants right on the water. Coming back we sometimes paddle up a tidal river which runs right across the street from our house. We have a fantastic view of the historic Minot Lighthouse which is also known as the 'I Love You Lighthouse' because of its 1-4-3 flashing sequence. Our property includes a small beach which we use to swim and launch our kayaks. The tide pools in the rock ledge right off our back deck are always fun to explore and constantly change with the 9 foot tides here. Step off the rock directly onto sandy North Scituate Beach which at low tide adjoins Egypt Beach. It is possible to take a two or three mile walk or run right on the beach. We take walks there nearly every evening. Since there is very little public parking, the beach is seldom really crowded and is used mostly by folks in the neighborhood. Most of the terrain is relativly flat, making for easy biking through the quiet streets that are lined with many lovely homes. The sunrises and sunsets are typically breathtaking. We are able to see the morning sunrise while lying in bed and and enjoy the sunsets while sitting on the deck in the evening. The location and people here are so pleasant that it is just a wonderful place to be and the superb views from the house just make it even more so.
What makes this house unique
Compared to other properties, this house is directly on the water on two sides and sited so as to provide relative privacy. The house is set out slightly farther than others so there are tremendous views from both inside and outside. We have undertaken extensive renovations since acquiring the property in 2009 including a new kitchen and interior finishes. Most of the furnishings are also new. The outdoor space is expansive with decks at two levels and additional outdoor seating at the ground level around a small fire pit. The accommodations are very comfortable with a very large master suite and 4 additional bedrooms.
Not touristy or commercial and slightly off the beaten path, this is a quiet, family area where the people are warm and friendly. The ocean views here are magnificent and the beaches are not normally overly crowded. The location is between Boston and Cape Cod and there is a commuter train stop which is only about a two or three minute drive from the house. It is fun to take the ferry boat from either Hingham or Quincy into Boston. There are also ferry boats which go to some of the Boston Harbor islands during the summer months which is another fun activity. The ferry terminals are a short drive up route 3A. A day trip to the Cape or Plymouth Plantation are easy activities. There are a number of nice shopping areas and restaurants within a 10 to 30 minute drive. Super markets are a 6 minute drive by car. A number of deep sea fishing charters leave out of Scituate Harbor. What we like most though is just being at the house here and enjoying the water and natural surroundings.
