The reason I chose to build a house on this property is to be able to enjoy the beach from sun up to sun down.....and even at night. To be able to wake up in the morning and check the surf without even getting out of bed really appealed to me. I liked the idea of going out for a surf session without having to put surfboards in a car and very few people (if any) in the lineup. To watch the sun set every day from the big deck with my family and friends is such a great thing to do. On a clear night, you have never seen more stars in your life. It is absolutely amazing. This house in Finca Del Mar is about as close to the Managua International Airport as any beach in Nicaragua.
Some of the benefits that we enjoy about staying at Casa Sueno are as follows: If we do not want to rent a car, we can arrange for a driver to pick us up at the airport and take us directly to the house. We can have our groceries at the house waiting for us upon our arrival. We have a fully equipped kitchen so meals can be made right at home. There is a maid that will show up at 9:00 in the morning and stays until three. She will clean, make beds and even do some light cooking for breakfast and lunch. Three of the bedrooms have air conditioning and all have ceiling fans. The deck over looking the Pacific Ocean is spacious and comfortable creating a great place to hang out all day. The upper deck is another great place to hang out with an elevated view.
Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Casa Suenos. The house was perfect for our family and friends group of 7 (with room to spare), appointed thoughtfully with all the comforts for a relaxed beach retreat. Janelle was pleasure to work with and was extremely helpful: from the food shop, to baking a cake and providing a pinata for our 3 year old's birthday bash to helping with our lost baggage. Eveline (the house keeper) was a real treat and a great cook. These guys have built a amazing house in a phenomenal setting and taken the extra steps to make a perfect vacation retreat for those lucky enough to visit.
Four couples ranging in age from 55 to 67 just returned from a week in paradise. We stayed at Los Cardones Surf Lodge 6 years ago and toured Casa Sueno when it was being built so we knew the area, the secluded, empty beach and what to expect. We were not disappointed. The accommodations were wonderful – particularly the great patio area where we spent much of our time.
We appreciated Janelle’s (the property manager) help and advice both before and during our stay. She had all our food in the house for us when we arrived and she even provided us with unexpected bake treats a couple of times during our visit – a nice touch! Eveling prepared delicious meals including killer ceviche, homemade tortillas and side dishes, and we chose to grill chicken or fish for ourselves for dinners.
We can’t express ourselves any better than JPF and Karen E did when they wrote their reviews. It was the most relaxing vacation we have had. Waves were good for the surfers, shells were plentiful, we saw a turtle lay her eggs and watched 83 baby turtles hatch at Los Cardones. Some of our group went fishing with Dan (Janelle’s husband) and each caught a fish and enjoyed a good day at sea. Our personal home massages were to die for and the extra refrigerator for our Tonia’s kept the beer at just the right temperature. Burrito Bandito serves great food on the way into Casa Sueno, should you need a bite or cold beverage before the long drive in. Hoping to return in the future, as this is a “must go to” destination for those that like off the beaten path places, solitude and gorgeous sunsets.
...you don't even have to think about what you're having for dinner
...your kids say, "Can we move here?"
...there's no agro line-up
...you get to know your local security force
...you don't need a Lonely Planet book to figure out what you're going to do
...rum starts tasting like kool-aid
...you finish reading a bad book, but it's OK because you just have time to do that
...you have hammock marks on your back
...you wake up at like 2am, and say, "What's that noise?!", then quickly go back to sleep because it was just the ocean
'Wow" was the word that kept echoing in the truck as we pulled up to Casa Sueno deep in the night.
"Wow" was what we kept saying as we all wandered through the house.
The rooms, the incredible detail of the house and mostly because of the patio/viewing area. Even in the middle of the night, we knew this place was something extra special.
We (a female surf crew of six) spent 8 days living the high life in Casa Sueno. We ate Evelynn's wonderful cooking, took naps, swam, read, surfed, explored, hung out at Los Cardones Surf/Eco Lodge, killed Captain Dan in volleyball and just had the best time. The weather was perfect but when it got too hot, we just hung out in the hammocks in the shade of Casa Sueno. We all believe Casa Sueno is also female in nature.
Time slowed waaaaay down for most of us. After only a few days, we felt as if we had been there for a month. And were all contemplating on how to forward our lives down to Finca del Mar.
And Case Sueno has the extra bonus of the excellent house manager, Janelle. She stopped by every day to check on us. Upon arrival, there were chocolate chip cookies in the refrigerator, one night she brought us a cake and then a loaf of warm banana bread for the 90 minute trek back to Managua for our flights home. SHE'S THE BEST!
And don't forget to read the guest book as most of it is pretty hilarious.
It gets right into your soul, this corner of the world.
I highly recommend this house for any and everyone.
I stayed in this beautiful home for ten days with some great friends and we had the time of our lives. Everything from the architecture to the people who help make this place special are unique. I went on the trip searching for good waves and got them but half way through I realized I was getting much more. This house and nica did work on my soul. I can't thank the owner enough. An amazing experience
If you're looking to disconnect from the everyday world and slow down the clock and relax, then this place is for you. The house is full of amenities, and Janelle the property manager is an absolute dream to have. If surfing is what you desire there's great breaks up and down the beach. You want to go fishing? That can be arranged. You can just sit and enjoy the sun on the huge patio and read a book. Next door is a great Eco Lodge which offers yoga, massages, a common area to hangout in and meet people from all over the world. Oh and let's not forget about Eveling, who is there everyday to assist with the upkeep, and oh she makes a mean ceviche too. I can keep going but recommend that you book a ticket and experience it firsthand.
Los Cardones Surf / Eco Lodge is next to Casa Sueno. Los Cardones has a restaurant, rents surf boards, offers many activities such as day trips, horseback riding, day care, volleyball, volunteer opportunities, etc. See link below for Los Cardones. In addition, Gran Pacifica is a short distance (15 minute walk on the beach) and offers golf and a restaurant. Gran Pacifica also has wifi and a satellite TV.
