The third floor observatory has east and west facing decks and a 360 degree view of Carillon Beach, the bell tower, and the Gulf of Mexico. It is perfect for watching the magnificent sunsets or just enjoying the enchanting sounds of the carillon central to the community. ('Carillon' means bell tower in French.) The Carillon is a $500K structure and centerpiece of the village. It softly chimes on the hour during the day and is occasionally played by one of several skilled 'carilloneurs' on the weekends and holidays! Our beach home features several decks and porches on all 3 stories totaling over 900 square feet, with a hammock, glider and rocking chairs enticing you to sit and enjoy the sea breezes. Located less than 100 yards from the sand in the upscale community of Carillon Beach, you won't find a better value for your escape than Sweet Serenade Cottage. Shopping at Pier Park or Silver Sands Designer Factory Outlet Mall, in San Destin each ~ 20 min. away. For those looking to just 'unplug', read a book on the beach, in the hammock, or by the pool. Feed the seagulls, look for seashells. Take a relaxing walk on the beach - sunrise, or sunset is the best. Take in a movie at the great theater at Pier Park. Enjoy the many wonderful restaurants. 'Bayou Bills' is a favorite of ours, and just across the street. Their Dungeness crab is to die for! Hit the playground with the kids, or any of the 3 lovely neighborhood pools - all just minutes by foot or bike if you prefer, within our private gated community. Our favorite is 'The Beach Club', with it's pool right on the beach! So, the best activity? About Carillon:
The creation of Carillon Beach began in 1982. At the center of town stands the 37-bell carillon, the community landmark. Streets run north and south, east and west, from intersecting axes that lead to community pavilions. With the addition of downtown, a new energy has been added to Carillon. Reminiscent of the village main street, downtown offers a diverse dining and shopping experience together with significant areas for congregating. The Carillon Beach community is in between Destin and Panama City, FL where you will find shopping at fine stores and outlet malls, as well as fine and casual dining. There is something for everyone!
