Rose Cottage was built over the years 1990 – 2005 on two very private ocean-front acres purchased from L.L. Bean’s granddaughter in 1987. The property is on Rockport’s outer harbor, overlooking Indian Island light. There are gardens, lawn, forest and over 300 feet of deepwater oceanfront, as well as total privacy from neighbors. Rose Cottage comprises three buildings:
The Cottage: The Cottage is a two-story 1,200 SF home. It has central A/C, Wi-Fi, ocean views from virtually every room and loads of charm and artwork. Downstairs is a small, beautifully-equipped kitchen (Cuisinart, All-Clad, lobster pots, etc.), a dining area and a living area. There is a sofa, chairs, wood-burning fireplace, high-def TV, stereo and French doors leading to the patio. Upstairs is a spacious master suite with luxury king bed, easy chair and ottoman, desk, laundry room, and beautiful bathroom with granite surfaces, soaking tub with forest views, twin sinks and separate shower.
The Studio: The Studio is a 600 SF bedroom above the garage. It also has central A/C. There is a luxury queen bed, small refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker, large bathroom with shower, and a sitting area with high-def TV, loveseat, rocking chairs, wood stove and ocean view.
The Summer House: On the lawn is a 250-SF gazebo with wicker furniture, floor to ceiling screened windows and wood-burning fireplace. It is the perfect place to relax or entertain.
Nearby Camden, Rockport Harbor and Rockland have museums, coffee houses, fine restaurants, bookstores, antique shops, harbor cruises on old schooners, hiking, kayaking, theater and too much more to list.
