Come experience God’s Blessings in this Rustic, quiet, wildlife setting with a clear view of the purple majesty of Pike’s Peak from the front porch of your Colorado Family Getaway. This country-western décor cottage is nestled amongst the pines on a 1 acre fenced in lot. Escape from the fast pace life and reconnect with your love ones with simple family fun activities right outside your door. This Colorado Family Getaway comes complete with everything you need to get back to the simple pleasures of life. A private campground with plenty of room for RV parking complete with an additional small 1 bedroom cabin, fire pit and an old fashion charcoal grill for larger groups or special celebrations. Additional equipment such as chairs, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, horseshoes, backpacks, roasting sticks, and bikes are available upon request. Indoors you can gather around the iron cast fireplace while enjoying watching family videos from the video library or have a family game night with a variety of board games to choose from.

However if you start to miss the amenities of city life you are walking distance to all the specialty shops and restaurants in the “City Above the Clouds”, Woodland Park. This unique mountain town is complete with Aveda hair salon, Walmart a WIFI Starbucks and so much more……………..

About The Owner

Hi my name is Christine and this is my husband Brad. We were both single parents for many years before we met and blended our families together. Before becoming a part of this family now of 11, I was a single mother of 5 children one with special needs. My experience with my children and need to support them inspired me to work with children in the school system as an Occupational Therapist. Since I was off during the summer months I was able to retreat into the mountains of Colorado and spend quality time with my family. We have many priceless memories exploring Colorado but ended up settling in our favorite place,Woodland Park, "The City Above the Clouds". Recently, I married a single dad of four children and our blended family of 11 all enjoy family living and outdoor activites. We are grateful for God's blessings and want to share them with other families. We especially have a heart for the single parent knowing all the challenges of raising children on your own we extend a special invitation to the single parent to come and find peace and joy at our kid friendly Colorado Family Getaway.

Wilderness living just minutes from Hwy 24 in the heart of Woodland park, the "City Above the Clouds."

What makes this cottage unique

While staying on the property, you will have access to the privacy of a large fenced in lot with plenty of wildlife viewing. As nighttime aproaches, you will enjoy gathering around the firepit and roasting marshmellows as you gaze upon the purple mountain peaking through the aspen and pines. For larger groups there is plenty of space for tents and campers (limited camping/hiking gear available at time of booking) Based on availability, there is an additional 1 bedroom cabin complete with a stone wood burning fireplace, kitchen, and bathroom which can accomadate additonal guest for parties and larger family gatherings. (ask about our party/event rates}. Although you feel like you are miles away from civilization, you can walk ourside the wooden gates and follow the path along the rocky creek 5' to downtown Woodland park. The Safeway, Blockbusters, Burger King, Wallgreens and many more estabishments are closely available by foot. For longer strolls Walmart,McDonalds, Sonic, Dinasuar Museum and Rampart Library are close at hand. Additionally, you will find everthing you could imagine; antique stores, rentals and many events available in town. We especially enjoy the Friday morning Farmers Market. For those seeking outdoor fun there are many outdoor adventures just a short car ride away including cliff jumping at Paradise Cove, Florrisant fossil beds, 11 mile Canyon, Gold mining towns Victor amd Cripple Creek, Platte River fishing, Mueller State Park, and plenty of hiking and biking paths. Ladies you will love the shopping, beauty salons and fudge shop. Don't worry about cooking, there are plenty of family eat-in or take out places. This unique location has something for every member of the family including your pet.

Our trip to Woodland Park was very memorable.....loved the cottage we stayed in because it was spacious, clean and our favorite part was it overlooked Pike's Peak. It was fun to barbeque on the large lot and we were walking distance to the heart of Woodland Park. There were so many things to do in and around the area. This part of Colorado is our favorite place - beauty, nature and family. Thanks!

A group of 6 of us stayed in this house. First - it was incredibly difficult to find. The street is not marked, well, at least not with a sign. And the "keep out" and "no trespassing" signs certainly did not make me think I was at the right place. Finally - having a second home unit within the same fenced area was unexpected - and having someone else (not in our party) stay within that area made our stay feel like we were intruding in someone else's backyard.

The property's fence opens up to a steep drainage way that may be a safety concern for children. And immediately across the drainage way is a mobile home park - it just overall doesn't have the relaxing vacation vibe I would look for in a vacation rental.

I think the kitchen was not terribly well stocked. For example, there was not enough silverware at meal time, and something as common as a cutting board was nowhere to be found in the kitchen.

Overall, I thought this house would be good if you were in town visiting your relatives in the area and you wanted your own space that was close to the neighborhood. As a vacation rental, I did not think it had the charm and comforts that I would seek.
