Idyllwild Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Chateau / Country House, 3 Bedrooms + Office, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Shadowbrook, built in 1927 and lovingly maintained and enhanced over the years, for the first time is available to the public for vacation rental. On a level acre, the graceful “cabin” looks over Strawberry Creek, as does the Jacuzzi redwood hot tub. Lupines and rare tiger lilies grace the forest garden in summer. The interior is warmed by virgin redwood walls and its exterior is cedar bark above river-washed boulders. While its style is in the tradition of an old-fashioned Adirondack cottage, it has central heating, a modern kitchen, outdoor shower, and three fireplaces for ultimate comfort. Walk to town along the creek, sit in the sunroom filled with the Strawberry Creek’s music, have breakfast on the deck, and you’ll know why Shadowbrook has only had three previous owners.

Guestbook comments from the owner
"We loved the proximity of the property to the creek and the very private wooded lot. We walked to Aroma Cafe for breakfast. The house was very comfortable and charming. The cabin decor was impeccable, and outside deck areas inviting. I will definitely rent again.
For thirty five years, we've enjoyed Shadowbrook in all seasons. We look forward to tiger lilies in July, flocked trees in winter, and lupines in the spring. The nights are dark and clear for star gazing and the creek provides its music day and night. I've written twenty books in the house, so it's also a place of great inspiration.
The first time we discovered Idyllwild, we had come up the Hill for dinner at a new restaurant. Although it was called the Chef in the Forest, we were surprised and delighted by the beauty of the little village. We went back up a year later and have loved the town and our home ever since.
We have horseshoes and badminton, a hammock, books, and sunshine most of the time. Lighting a fire in our giant fireplace with a glass of wine, a novel, and Beethoven is our idea of a good time in winter. Aroma, the restaurant right across the creek from us, has great food with live music to match.
