Enjoy small town living coupled with all that Napa and Sonoma have to offer in this recently remodeled St. Helena cottage. Brought back to its inviting 1930's roots with period moldings and finishes, this home beautifully blends historic charm with clean lines and modern amenities.
The integrated living and kitchen area creates the heart of the home, with dining and lounging decks facing both front and rear gardens. The renovated kitchen features a restored Wedgewood stove, Carrera marble counters and a wine cooler. The decor throughout is inviting and inventive, distinguishing the home as a serene and sophisticated retreat.
The master suite, with a queen bed has a full bath, complete with a heated stone floor and claw foot tub, as well as a small study that looks over the garden. The second bedroom, also with a queen bed, has a full bath adjacent.
An old-world still at the rear of the property has been converted into a free-standing guest suite with full bath and reading loft, offering complete privacy just steps from the main cottage. Its barn siding and tin roof infuse the garden with character and charm.
The house is half a block from St. Helena's Main Street and lies within a five mile radius of dozens of signature wineries and restaurants. This proximity to Main Street gives you easy walking access(1/2 block - 4 blocks at most) to premium eateries, markets, and boutiques. A beautiful twenty minute drive over Spring Mountain finds you in Sonoma County, a lovely adjunct to your Napa Valley adventure.
We seek to keep our property in tip top shape by restricting rentals to a one-month minimum. Long-term rentals (3-6 months) are also welcome but NOT shorter-term(weekends). Weekly housekeeping included. No smoking, and sorry, no pets.
Keywords: Well-located cottage with mature garden and modern, relaxed vibe.
We are a San Francisco couple who became smitten with St. Helena when one of us had the opportunity to work there for a year. Our cottage is our favorite getaway. But when life and its obligations get in the way, we welcome renters looking for small town charm and a relaxing setting.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
What a great spot to spend some time away from the hurly burly of the big city. This sweet little cottage is a 'right sized' house with all the amenities of home. It is eclectic and artfully done, while carefully maintaining the original character of both the home and the yard. The place is a real treat inside and out. You can follow the sun around the outside of the house, enjoying a meal on the back deck, a drink on the patio, or simply watch the sun rise, a morning coffee in hand, on the wonderful covered veranda looking unto the street..
We enjoyed foraging, on foot, at the local markets for all the great local produce available. And the Italian market at the end of the street is a treasure trove, merely a minute away. Many a memorable meal was cooked on the vintage Wedgewood range. All of the pantry essentials and utensils are in the right place. And the simmer function alone puts every expensive modern stove I've ever used to shame.
Both the home and yard are very well maintained, with local help coming in on a weekly basis to ensure that everything is kept ship shape. And if you don't feel up to cooking, there are several really excellent restaurants at the other end of the block, plus a dozen or so more within an easy ten or fifteen minute walk up Main Street.
We'll be back. This house is a gem!
This property is amazing! The photos do not show the detail of the thought and care that the owner has put into choosing the decor and the way the property has been taken care of. Not only is the inside beautiful, but the garden is gorgeous and so relaxing! This cottage really is a jewel! My daughter and I had the privilege of staying there for 5 months when we needed a short-term rental. We enjoyed every minute of the time we spent there!
The cottage is within walking distance - only a few short minutes - of excellent restaurants, shops, and the wonderful amenities of downtown St. Helena, yet, it is located in a quiet residential street.
I highly recommend this cottage for your stay in the Napa Valley!
I have now rented this beautiful cottage twice for a November/early December visit. I have also rented VRBO homes in Orlando, Charleston, Hilton Head SC, Isle of Palms SC and San Francisco and while I have enjoyed them all, this home is the most special to me and is the one I hope to return to every Thanksgiving. When you stay here, you are at home. Everything you could ask for is in this house: great open kitchen and living/dining area, two separated bedrooms and baths (especially love the heated bathroom floors) and a separate guest bedroom and bath across the beautifully planted yard. Lovely deck off the kitchen and additional seating area with table, chairs and firepit at the far end of the yard. The owners are immediately responsive to any questions; they have a cleaning and gardening staff who are superb. There are at least 3 excellent restaurants within a very short walking distance and you can easily walk to “downtown” St. Helena. You will be very happy in my home away from home; just please don’t go for Thanksgiving!!!
The moment you drive up to this charming immaculate cottage you feel welcome... and when you enter the front door you know you are Home. The intimacy, well appointed details, and landscaping in this central St. Helena location (a short walk from downtown) are wonderful. The images shown here only hint at its true essence. I have stayed in the guest house here over a considerable period of time and would highly recommend this property to anyone.
