My name is Sunny, and I am a retired Federal Fireman, for over 25 years on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii...avid and dedicated Surfer and Fisherman...Landed on Oahu 40 years ago, a decorated Viet Nam Vet, in search of Surf. Met my lovely wife, Debi, who was born and raised in Wahiawa and works as a State of Hawaii Librarian. Debi is an avid soccer player and was one of the 'soccer moms' on the North Shore. I went to work for the FFD and never left! The North Shore has always been our home ever since, taught my two children how to swim, surf, paddle, fish...now we have a beachfront home (our dream...and we would like to share our 'Aloha Kai Ohana' with others.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2010
Honestly, we always wanted beachfront, and could not afford it...By the grace from the Man above, and through successful real estate investments, our dream came true. We wanted a nice quiet beach, serene...where the large surf breaks way outside..where I can take my kayak out and fish, and where my son can spear fish in the calm waters.
Quiet, peaceful, walk out onto the beach, parking right out front, BBQ grill, ice chest...Perfect for Relaxing! Away from the traffic and chaos of Sunset Beach!
Due to the heat wave this summer, we just asked guests to turn off the A/C when they leave. They may keep it on while they are inside the unit.
During your stay, it was hot and steamy due to rain showers and we apologize for that...the weather cannot be predicted.
Sorry for your inconvenience. We have now written up a list of House Rules for guests when they arrive, so we don't have to ask them to turn off the A/C.
This place has everything you'll need for a mellow, beachfront vacation. Clean and comfy!
We stayed for 6 nights. Place was as pictured but property is shared with other apartments. Owner a bit intrusive, was very concerned about use of a/c. It was too hot to rely only on ceiling fan in master bedroom. Small bedroom has no fan or a/c.
Area is close to many other beaches and attractions.
All in all the place was okay for the price. We have stayed at other VRBO's Will not be returning to this one.
We have been to Oahu many times and always prefer to stay on the North Shore. In 2008 we stayed in Waialua, and knew if we wanted to rent a house/townhouse this location would be ideal again. Where this townhouse is located, the ocean is just steps out the wonderful patio, and the beach is clean and there are no rocks. My husband and I were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary and we had the pleasure of staying 14 days at this very relaxing townhouse in May. What a wonderful welcome from Sunny and his wife Debi, authentic Hawaiian coffee was on the counter when we entered the very clean and comfortable house. Many days we would see Sunny & his super-friendly golden Ali'i. Sunny was a wealth of information, and had recommendations for restaurants that we had not yet tried yet. Our daughter joined us for 6 days and she stayed in the spare bedroom and was excited the spare bedroom had its own attached bathroom. Mahalo Sunny & Debi & Ali'i we miss you guys so much and can’t wait to come back. ALOHA!!!
My husband, two daughters, and I stayed here for 8 wonderful & relaxing days in April.
It starts every morning with the sound of the surf and birds, the master bedroom has a sliding door with beautiful ocean view. My husband & I brew fresh Hawaiian coffee our host Sunny has thoughtfully provided on the first day. We go outside on the covered porch/lanai and drink our coffee and read while watching the sky lighten up. We then go for a morning walk on the beach which is just past the lawn and comb the beach for coral, shells and sea glass. Sunny & his super-friendly golden Ali'i are usually around to say hi.
We either drive into town or can eat in before heading to our day's activities. Waialua is central, about 40 mins to Honolulu and to the Polynesian Cultural Center. About 8 mins to Haleiwa for shave ice, dining, nightlife and supplies. Life is really good!!! I would recommend a rental car, check around for last minute deals as we got one for $17 a day.
The apartment is very clean, newly renovated, beds comfortable! Great for families. Our teenager had the back bedroom and our 7 yr old slept on the couch. Master bedroom has air conditioner but we just used the ceiling fans. Washer & dryer is right outside and bath & beach towels are provided.
We went surfing, beachcombing, exploring, hiking, swimming with sea turtles, and yeah, lots of eating (recommend Aoki's/Matsumotos's, Giovanni's/food trucks in Haleiwa, Breakers, L&L, Ted's & the Hulihuli chicken stand). Some great places nearby is Haleiwa, Turtle bay (go early or late & ask for beach pass), Waimea, Sunset Beach, PCC, Kualoa Ranch...so many places, not enough time.
The pictures and descriptions are accurate. For the price, you get a great beachfront location, lots of space and friendly host who is a local & happy to recommend restaurants and out of the way beaches.
If you're looking for a nice place on the beach and still have money left over for activities, this is an awesome deal for $125 a night.
Mahalo Sunny & Debbie (& Ali'i!!), this was a vacation our family will always remember!!!
We so very much enjoyed our time at this location. The accomodations were more than we expected. Very comfortable and clean with all the conveniences of home. The location has a beautiful beach where we actually spent most of our time, having coffee in the morning and watching the sunsets in the evenings.Down the beach a short walk away we saw sea turtles sunbathing and whales splashing out in the ocean. It was very romantic and we even entertained a small group of friends over for a BBQ and a celebration for our engagment which was proposed and acccepted on the beach right out front. Sunny, Deb and Alli were great hosts and their piece of paradise will always be a special place for us. We highly recommend these accomodations for anyone needing a location on the North Shore. We were very close to bus routes which worked well for us, but you may want a rental if you plan on an active schedule, but if your not in a hurry this is a great place to just chill out. All you need to bring is some grub and your smile. Aloha to the new friends we met while we were there and we hope to come back for another visit soon.
For three weeks this was our home away from home. The property is in a quiet residential neighborhood on a beautiful natural beach. The description and photos are accurate. The place was clean and functional. The full kitchen has everything you need to cook. The covered patio is a great place to have a meal or relax and read. Often we had the beach to ourselves. This is really a place to get away from everything. The bus stop is close by but we would recommend having a car. There are many beautiful north shore beaches a short drive away. The town of Haleiwa is close by and has many great boutique shops and restaurants. We loved the Saturday Farmer's Market where we got fresh fruit, vegetables and coconut peanut butter! We would love to go back. Thank you Sunny and Debi...give Alii a pet for us!
