Steve and Sue were married in the Abacos Islands, a string of Bahamian islands located about 175 miles east of Palm Beach, Florida, in February 2005, their 9th year as a couple. They enjoy golfing and dancing and going to the fair. It is their dream to buy a three masted schooner and sail around the world. Steve is a certified diver and would love to add hours to his log in search of sunken treasure. Sue and Steve enjoy being out in the country and taking time to enjoy the abundance of nature around them. They thoroughly enjoy running Dakota Lodge. Sue- As a former Food Service Director on a college campus, Sue enjoys running the kitchen at Dakota Lodge her own way. In addition to running the B&B, and cooking for guests, Sue teaches a nationally recognized certification course for food safety to restaurants, day cares, nursing homes, hospitals and other food service operations in Minnesota. Steve- Now a "retired" instructor of machining at St. Paul Technical College, Steve keeps his skills fresh with endless maintenance projects around the Lodge. Before Steve met Sue, his many interests included scuba, music, kung fu, inventing, and reading; then Sue introduced him to golf. These days, you'll find Steve on the driving range he built at the Lodge, putting in the living room, reading golf books, and talking golf. Extreme golfers, Steve and Sue are members at Sandstone Country Club.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2001
Steve's mom was born and raised just 3 miles from the Lodge, and Steve would work on family farms in this area during the summers when he was growing up. We wanted to move out of the Twin Cities and this area felt like "coming home".
Peace and Quiet, Privacy, Nature, Country views and hospitality.
Close to two large State Parks, biking and hiking trails, four wheeling trails and two Casinos.
Our family stayed at the lodge for a reunion weekend. The facility was comfortable, clean, well kept and the caretaker friendly and helpful.
Would stay again.
