Surrounding area: Glen Abbey Apartment is situated on the Erinvale Golf and Country Estate, Somerset West, 50 km outside of Cape Town, in the middle of the wine region Helderberg and Stellenbosch. The world famous wine Estate 'Vergelegen' is our neighbour and is open for wine tasting and lunch daily. Our beach, the 'False Bay' is only 10 minutes away by car. The beautiful long beach is inviting you for a swim or beach walking. The Helderberg Nature Reserve, which is bordering our estate, guest can enjoy many indigenous plants and a fantastic bird life. The reserve offers plenty of hiking trails. Somerset West and the surrounding is offering many lovely restaurants where they serve local food and local wines. The Somerset Mall, our main shopping centre is open daily and only 5km away from us. 15 beautiful golf courses are in the area.
Day trips: The Cape is full of objects of interest and beautiful landscaping. Most beautiful is a trip along the coast to Cape Point. Drive along the coast and visit the penguins at Boulders Beach. Baboons will welcome you at the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Outside the reserve you will find an ostrich farm, which is worth wile visiting. Stellenbosch and Franshoek with all their wine Estates and their beautiful old inner city’s are most enjoyable. If you want to see the Wales, visit us between Mai and November. Cape Town has something to offer for each age. You will find plenty of galleries, antic shops, museums and sightseeing points in Town. The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is a shopping and entertaining place for young and old. Go up Table Mountain or take the cable car and enjoy the most beautiful view over the Cape. This are only some ideas what to expect from the Cape.
Exceptional Features: The resort consists of 16 Apartments, built on a 10.000 sqm big ground. The Apartment is managed by an agency which is situated on the Estate and look after our guests. They will book day trips, Restaurant, tee off time for our guests, help them with car hire or organize a collection from the Airport.
Golf: Glen Abbey is situated on the world famous Golf Course Erinvale, Somerset West, Cape Town. The 18 hole championship Golf Course was host of the world cup in 1996 and the SAA Open in 2002 and 2003. Guests who stay with us have playing rights on the course and they are allowed using the Driving range or making use of a Pro. The Pro Shop, a Bar, a Half Way House and a Restaurant are available to our guests. The Golf Course is very busy in summer so we would recommend to pre book tee off times with our agent on the Estate. From 01.06.2004-30.09.2004 our guest will enjoy reduced green fees during the week. A green fee for 18 holes will cost R120.00. More than 15 most beautiful golf courses are in the area of Erinvale, just half to three quarter of an hour away by car.
