Relaxing Getaway on Southern Illinois Wine Trail

Welcome to Pinnon Lake Cabins! Tucked away in the beautiful rolling hills of 'Southern Illinois', our location rests on the highly acclaimed 'Southern Illinois Wine Trail'. Pinnon Lake is just minutes from the edge of 'Shawnee National Forrest'. We are only three miles off Interstate 57 at exit 36. Moments from anywhere yet feels like miles from it all.

You will find our cabins and lake setting to be as relaxing as it is beautiful. On any given day you may observe deer in the field, geese landing on the lake, a family of wild turkeys at the edge of the woods. In the spring you may even take a peek at our new baby calves, as the property is a third generation working family farm.

About The Owner

Ken Pinnon along with his wife Sherry have lived in Southern Illinois their entire lives. Ken has served in various capacities through the military, on the local school board and is now in a post retirement career with Country Financial. Sherry has owned and operated businesses in Union County and they each enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

What makes this cabin unique

You will enjoy a relaxing getaway, viewing the wildlife, rolling landscapes and a dip in the hot tub. Minutes from the highly acclaimed wine trails in Southern Illinois and great dining and recreation nearby. Several lakes are located within a few minutes from the cabin, to include Crab Orchard, Little Grassy, Devil Kitchen, Lake of Egypt, and Rend Lake are names of a few. Southern Illinois University at Carbondale is just minutes away. Other attractions include the Shawnee National Forest, Giant City State Park, and Drapers Bluff (rock climbing & instructions available}.

Great Romantic Weekend

First of all Ken was wonderful to work with and got back to me quickly to set up the reservation for the cabin. The pictures pale in comparison to the actual cabin when you get there. It is decorated wonderfully and the hot tub and screened in porch were great places to relax. The cabin is very easy to get to and is located near several wineries on the southeast end of the Shawnee Wine Trail. (Blue Sky, Orlandini and Star View). I have stayed in 3 other cabins along the wine trail and this is one of my top favorites. The cabins are located next to a small pond that you can sit and look out at on the porch. Both cabins are close to each other so they would probably be great if you had a large group and needed 2 cabins to rent. Can't wait to go back!

Stayed here with my husband and three children. Very pretty setting. Had a wonderful time the cabin is very nice and the beds are really comfortable. Owners are very nice.

Great cabin - pictures do not do it justice

This was a great place to stay. It is clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The hot tub is fantastic, and the electric fireplace is a great touch. The area is beautiful and is a great location right along the wine trail. Not shown in the picture is the newly added screened in porch, which is great to have when you get out of the hot tub but don't want to be bit up. We would definately stay here again, we could'nt have asked for a nicer place.

Fabulous Winter Escape

My mom, sister and I booked this cabin for three nights as a girls getaway and had a fabulous time. The pictures really do not do it justice. The cabin itself is finished to a very high standard. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are nice and soft. We all slept like babies the whole time we were here. It is right on a beautiful lake that the hot tub looks over. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom is a good size. We BBQ'd, we plaid cards, we drank wine and got in the hot tub. I would recommend this place for similar sorts of outings, for a romantic getaway or for a family vacation. Ken and his wife were very friendly and helpful throughout.
