Our two bedroom home built in the 1850's has been lovingly restored to it's original character. The master bedroom features a queen size bed with custom Maine made headboard, dual nightstands, three way lamps and television remote. We have Laura Ashley bedding and new sheets with comfy blanket and a fan for those hot summer nights. An antique oak dresser with mirror graces the room. A well appointed closet provides ample storage. There is a phone with free long distance in the kitchen and each of the bedrooms. An answering machine in the master records news from family and friends.
The second bedroom has two single Maine made beds with a blue ocean theme, new mattresses and mattress covers and is completed with LL Bean bedding and new cotton sheets. There is a full bath on the second floor with a tub/shower combination.
The first level has a kitchen equipped with stainless stove, stainless refrigerator, stainless microwave and stainless coffee maker. There is service for eight with new silverware, stemware, glasses, pots, pans and of course lobster crackers. A high capacity HE 3T stackable washer and dryer is located in the kitchen.
Enjoy the dining room or eat outside in the fresh Maine air on our new Maine-made picnic table for eight. The living room has a queen size sofa bed, computer station, flat screen television as well as board games and books by Maine authors Linda Greenlaw and Sara Orne-Jewitt. Maine magazines will fill you in on the local flavor of the area along with Maine happenings. Commercial high speed Internet (wireless or Ethernet) will keep you connected to friends and associates.
Improvements include new storm doors with plenty of ventilation for those warm summer breezes, a new ornamental glass front door welcomes the morning light and there is plenty of parking for friends and guests to park and walk to the Famers Market, ball field and harbor activities. The post office, bank, grocery store and lsle au Haut ferry are a short walk from our location.
Island Heritage Trust has many hiking trails including Barred Island, Scotts Landing and more on the island. The Lily Pond is enjoyed by many and is an healthy walk from our home. Sand Beach is a short drive for sun and fun where you'll encounter artists painting and sketching. World renown Haystack Mountain School of Crafts is located on the island. Julia Child as well as many writers, artists, musicians and a famous singer-songwriter have called the island their home.
From our home that has ocean 'glimpses' you can walk down the hill to the nearby waterfront with quaint shops, galleries, ice cream, movies, and numerous boating activities for all ages to enjoy year round.
