Stonington reminds me of my childhood growing up on the coast of Maine in Spruce Head near Rockland. We spent three years searching for a home that was close to all of the amenities the island has to offer. Our desire is to share it with others who visit the island.
The home is a great location close to the ocean, Main Street in Stonington and is a perfect spot to launch many island activities. The home is great for couples and families with an active lifestyle or for those who wish to slow down and get away from it all.
Very nice furnishings, linens and towels. Clean. Comfortable beds. Good-sized bedrooms. Nice size kitchen and cozy breakfast nook. Comfortable couch in living room. House was cozy, with the storm windows closed house was tight and warm. The shower would be extremely uncomfortable for someone over 5' 8"! I am 5' tall and had to kneel in the shower. Also, with just the one bathroom, I would not recommend this house for more than four guests at one time. The stairs are very steep and I would not recommend this for very young children. Some of the literature about area shops etc. was out-of-date which could be inconvenient only because you don't want to drive to a neighboring town and find out the place you were looking for is no longer there. The Adirondack chairs in the "back yard" were perfectly positioned and received sunlight all day! The area was quiet as far as neighbors, however it does sit at an intersection and you do hear cars going by all day. Walking distance to town, just up the street from the Opera House. There was no information about recycling and I wasn't sure what to do with our recyclables, or what was recyclable. Would stay there again.
3 of us (All adults) stayed at this property for 4 nights and we were very pleased with the ammenities, location and price of the deal. The house is walking distance to the Stonington shops, library and ocean harbor. Is really charming. The bedroom setup is very comfortable. Plenty of sheets and towels available for use. The shower is a bit uncomfortable as the ceiling is low in the bathtub section but plenty of warm/hot water though!
A real jewel! Would stay again in a heartbeat!
