We are extremely blessed to live in Hawaii and want to share it with people who can appreciate the beauty and aloha Hawaii offers. We have lived on the island for 10 years and consider this home. We are blessed to live in such a wonderful community, an incredible place to live! We invite you to experience the joy we feel every morning when we wake up in paradise.

The Owner purchased this studio in 2005

There are many things to do on the Island. Waimanalo in our opinion is one of the most beautiful places to live. Waikiki is approximately 35 minutes away. Beautiful beaches are within walking distance. Sea Life Park only 5 minutes away, Olomana Golf Course 5 minutes, shopping, dining and more within 5-10 minutes.

Good home base for exploring the island

  • 4 of 5
If you want to experience Oahu, get out of Honolulu and Waikiki to where the locals live. Waimanalo is a quiet small local neighborhood. From here you get to almost anyplace on the island in 45 minutes or less and see the real side of Oahu. Hanaumua Bay and the hike up Makapu'u Lighthouse is very close. The mountains and cliffs that frame Waimanalo blow away the tourist hills of Diamond Head. We didn't even bother with the Diamond Head hike, try to work a hike to those cliffs into your schedule. Waimanalo Beach is nearly empty with soft white sand, just a half block away. No real waves to speak of. If you want to surf or watch surfing, it is close by at Sandy Beach of head up to Kailua where there is more action. For sunbathing, curl up with a good book or a nice stroll on the beach, this is the place. Strongly recommend TwoGoodKayaks in Kailua to rent a kayak and paddle out to the Mokes. And swim with turtles off Lanikai Beach. All of this is very close to the house. The only reason we went back to Waikiki was for surf lessons (calmest waves and best for beginners). Look for Groupon or Yelp deal for BigWaveDave. Easy drive in from the house and a good lesson at a good price. We both succeeded in standing and riding a wave! For food, we strolled up to Ono Steaks most evenings for dinner. Just a small local place, not fancy but excellent fresh fish dishes for a steal compared to Honolulu prices. Served in styrofoam, so also good for carryout and eating at the Tiki Bar back at the house. You have to get ice cream at Dave's up in the Waimanalo shopping center. The close at 7, so sometimes we had to go before dinner! The room itself is exactly as described in other reviews and in the picture. It is small. If you want to hang out at the place alot, then rent the unit upstairs which is alot bigger. If you are like us and out exploring the island most days and just need a clean comfy place to crash, this is perfect. Definitely unpack into the dresser, as no room for luggage on the floor (good advice from another review we read). Having the sink in the main room is very convenient so I could get ready without having to deal with the steamy mirror as my husband showered. There are tons of birds singing almost non-stop - great to wake to each morning. Bryce and Melissa are friendly and helpful, but also show great respect for your privacy. All in all this was a very relaxing and wonderful home during our trip.

Good place to crash

  • 4 of 5
Nice small studio literally 30 seconds to the beach. I was nervous because the reviews were all positive and nothing negative. This rental is very nice and well furnished and a good place to crash after a long day of exploring. The only thing is that it is small! I wouldn't stay here if you plan on hanging out at home for very long. Also it is very dim in the studio with all lights on and also in the shower it is dim. Overall it was well worth it to be so close to a killer secluded beach.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. There was a burnt out light bulb in the ceiling fan over the bed causing the room to be dim. We have replaced the bulb. Aloha

Great stay

  • 5 of 5
Unfortunately it rained our whole trip in Hawaii this time but this room was great even in the rain! Great cable access and wifi, choice between air-conditioning and a ceiling fan, and not one scent of mildew anywhere even with all the humidity (towels smelled clean and fresh even after several uses.) Very clean, felt like I was staying at a friend's house. Shower was amazing. Seriously. A couple of bugs got into the house but that's not surprising since it's hawaii and it was downpouring... nothing unexpected or horrible. We didn't get to use any of the outdoor space due to the rain or use the grill but would have been great had the sun cooperated. Both my husband and I have back problems and mattress was a little too soft for us but that's our personal issue. Wonderful private place to stay on the quiet side of the island and at a great price not even one block from the beach.

Perfect retreat!

  • 5 of 5
I highly recommend this property as the perfect retreat spot with its idyllic beach down the street and lush mountains on the other side. Breathtakingly beautiful and instantly soul soothing. Melissa and Bryce provide all the amenities you need and the place looks exactly like the photos and is easy to find. This studio is quiet, safe, clean, well-designed, well-maintained, comfortable and conveniently located in between Kailua (~15 min without traffic) and Honolulu (~30 min without traffic)--perfect for exploring east Oahu. Sunrise on Waimanalo Beach is stunning--grab a cup of coffee and meander over in your pjs. Or take advantage of being so close to Makapu'u Lighthouse and Lanikai Pillboxes and head there for sunrise hikes.

Melissa and Bryce designed and built the property and did an amazing and very thoughtful job--great details. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise!

Experience Real Hawaii

  • 5 of 5
If you want to relax and experience real Hawaii on a budget, this is the place. If you have a larger budget there's a one bedroom apartment upstairs. And it's beautiful. There are miles of paths running along the beach front, which is just 600 feet from the front gate. It's like having a private beach... amazing! The room is comfortable and has everything you need for a great beach vacation. But, unless you unpack in to the ample drawers, you may get a little cramped in the small space. The plan was to go to Kailua for food and the beach, but we found good food and a great beach here and never went to Kailua for either. Enjoy!!!
