LAKESIDE LOG CABIN ON TUNK LAKE IN DOWNEAST MAIN

Tunk Lake Cabin Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10. Screened Porch

The Taylor Camp is available to families who want a quiet and relaxing vacation on one of the most beautiful and private lakes in all New England. Five miles long, Tunk Lake has only 12 cabins on the southern 2/3 of the lake. The Taylor Camp is perfect for your family vacation. It just doesn't get any better than this!

Taylor Camp Web Site: Visit the Taylor Camp Web site link f(below) or more photos, area maps and camp information. .

Local Shopping & Medical Facilities: Ellsworth is about 30 minutes from the Taylor Camp. It includes 2 grocery store chains (Hanaford & Shaws), WalMart, Fast Food (McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Friendly's, Taco Bell, etc), Home Depot, Lowes, Hospital, Walk-in Medical Clinic, movie theater, and much more.

Location: Tunk Lake: There is swimming, hiking, Mt. climbing, boating, fishing on Tunk Lake, and since the lake has so few cabins, boat traffic is very light. No Jet Skis are allowed (by law).

Bar Harbor is a beautiful old New England town and a must-see. ACADIA NATIONAL PARK is the northeast’s only National Park. Don't miss Schoodic Point which is part of Acadia National Park and is just up the coast in the Winter Harbor area.

Restaurants: There are many restaurants between Tunk Lake and Ellsworth, in the Winter Harbor area, and in Bar Harbor. There is something for everyone from all the major fast food chains (in Ellsworth) to very fine dining. See The Taylor Camp web site for more details.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We are now in our 4th year renting the Taylor Camp. As best as I can tell, our camp has exceeded everyone's expectations. We have been very fortunate to have attracted wonderful families who have taken good care of our cabin.

If you are interested in the summer of 2008, I suggest you contact us this fall as we typically have a few families who come back.

BEST VACATION EVER!

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful week! The cabin is set in a private, very quiet location. It’s amply furnished with towels, bedding, and cooking equipment. We enjoyed daily canoeing and kayaking trips around the beautiful lake and watching beautiful sunsets from the dock. The lake water is very clear and was great for swimming. We especially enjoyed the screen in porch where we just sit for hours talking and enjoying the wooded area around the cabin. At night we could listen to the call of the lake loons filling the night air or enjoy an unimpeded view of a starry night sky from the dock. We enjoyed a day trip to Schoodic Point and Acadia Park and finished our day with a tour, tasting, and meal at Atlantic Brewing Company near Bar Harbor. This cabin offers the very definition of vacation… the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life with plenty of option for fun activities.

We just came home from a great vacation at Tunk Lake. Cabin was located right on the peaceful lake, it was comfortable, clean, well stocked with every item for cooking, exploring the lake and touring info. We had a blast Hiking several mountains and kayaking the lake. The kids had a blast on the dock, swimming, catching fish, kayaking and lying on the dock at night to see many falling stars. The view was breathtaking and very relaxing. We enjoyed walking around Bar Harbor and having dinner. I loved the screened in porch with the comfortable chairs for reading and watching the kids. They also had a great time at schonic point (how spell) caught and released crabs, starfish and sea urchins. If your looking to relax and spend time with family this is a great place.

Taylor Camp is the place of holiday dreams.
Its location is beautiful and the cabin has everything you need. If you feel the urge to explore, the harbours, forests, beaches and seafood are all worth seeking out but some of us chose not to leave for the whole week.
Lazy afternoons on the jetty or on the water merged into starlit evenings listening to the loons.
For anyone looking to enjoy the solitude and scenery of Maine from a beautifully appointed cabin, Taylor Camp is ideal-look no further.

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was really very nice. As we drove in, we wondered if we were in the right place! The location is very remote and secluded. But, in its seclusion, everything is just right. The woods are beautiful. The lake is perhaps the clearest water that we had ever seen. Everything that you would need is covered. The kitchen is well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The screened in porch was perfect. Everyone had a wonderful time at Taylor Camp. It's a good idea to stop off for provisions on your way into the camp as it is a bit of drive back to the store. There is no real beach at the camp. The rocky shore is nice, but you can only swim from the dock. In all, it was a very nice vacation spot. For a nice day trip, be sure to hit the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. Bunker's Wharf on the Schoodic side is also great for lunch.

Owner's Response: We are very please that the families who have chosen the Taylor Camp have loved it. If you are interested, i suggest booking as early as the fall before because we usually have returning families who book early.
