EXQUISITE EAST SIDE WALK TO EVERYTHING

Santa Fe Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Walk or take public transportation to everything from our exquisite old walled and coyote-fenced adobe compound in a colorful, historic Santa Fe neighborhood. 3 blocks to Canyon Road, with scores of the city’s best galleries and restaurants. FREE PUBLIC SHUTTLE: The Santa Fe Pick-Up makes three stops on Canyon Road before heading to the Plaza, so walk to Canyon Road and ride, or walk to the Plaza in 20 minutes or so. In any case, it's easy to leave your car parked on our enclosed grounds and spend time in town. It is a 15-minute walk to St. John’s College and the Atalaya and Dale Ball Trailheads. A 10-minute drive will take you to the Audubon preserve, and in 30 minutes or less you'll be at the Santa Fe Ski Basin, 10000 Waves Japanese Spa, or the Santa Fe Opera.

Designed for privacy and surrounded by extensive, beautiful xeric native gardens. Mature organic fruit trees and shrubs, pines, and lots of flowering plants create an oasis, perfuming the mountain air and sheltering numerous birds (including hummingbirds) and butterflies. Sit on rustic benches under the shade of old apple, hawthorne, and sugarberry trees and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells. Or sit on the 1000-square-foot flagstone patio and enjoy a picnic or barbecue--plenty of seating and a gas barbecue grill for you and your guests. Landscaping is by a well-known Santa Fe designer.

This lovingly renovated apartment is 1 of only 3 units on the property. Artisan-inspired, the unit has skylights; hand-carved doors; cove and viga-latilla ceilings; tinwork fixtures by an award-winning Santa Fe artist; 3 kiva fireplaces; hardwood and tile floors; and lots of closets and storage space. This home-away-from-home is furnished with full electronic system including flat screen HDTV, DVD, and Ipod player, interesting and comfortable furniture, outstanding art collection. Books focus on NM art, birds, butterflies, wildflowers, fiction, etc. Manager lives onsite. Parking area, inside the walled grounds, is surrounded by chamisa (covered with yellow flowers September-October), pinon and ponderosa pine, organic fruit trees, and beds of shrubs and flowers.

REPRESENTATIVE RENTERS' QUOTES:

“I just wanted to let you know that Julie and I had a great time and Santa Fe and really enjoyed the apartment. Thank you very much for everything. It’s a great place. We also took your recommendations and went to La Choza and Café Sena, and hiked the Atalaya trial. It all made for a great vacation for us.

Again, thank you.”

Best regards,

Pete

“We really had the best time and will be in touch about coming back next year.

Is there anything you would like me to do before we leave?

Thank you again, we really had a great time!”

Fondly,

Marylyn

“We've been in a bit over a week and I haven't yet thanked you for your kind note and lovely bottle of wine - thank you for such a nice welcome!

Anyway, this photo was taken the day we arrived as we were about to set out on our first walk. Bear had been in the car for 3 days; he was ready to go! We've been on many outings since with his favorite being off leash on the many mountain trails full of other happy canines.

We love the house and its many charms. I feel like I'm just getting to know it, now that things have finally quieted down. I'd love to know the history of it if you get the chance.

Hope this finds you well and, again, thank you for everything.”

Lisa

“I've been enjoying the house, and Santa Fe's great fall weather-

I'm going to hate to leave.

I hope everything is going well with you all!!

Happy Halloween!”

Philip

“Thank you. What a wonderful house you have! We certainly want to come back. There is so much that we did not get to do. We are eagerly anticipating a return trip.”

Janet

“We have enjoyed our time here very much. Living in this neighborhood has given us an entirely different Santa Fe experience than we have had in the past. I have explored the area and learned my way around town, which has been a lot of fun. All in all, it has been delightful. I hate to go home where the heat has been over 100 for a long time- 110 yesterday! Thanks for sharing your lovely space.”

Ginger

“The stay was very enjoyable. We were wondering if your place is free in Aug. If so we would be interested in renting it again?”

Owned jointly by two old friends--one a retired anthropologist who lives in Colorado and the other a retired consultant who lives in Florida. We (and our husbands) love Santa Fe's cultural richness, arts, great food, spectacular scenery with such a variety of ecosystems, wonderful hiking, birding and other wildlife viewing.

Chris Schluter purchased this apartment in 1986

In minutes we can be on the trail hiking up Atalaya Trail, summit 9,121. Afterward, we can walk three blocks to dinner at Geronimo's, the Compound, or El Farol and all the shops and galleries on Canyon Road. The home is in an historic Santa Fe neighborhood; yet we have extensive grounds with beautiful, private gardens and patios.

Great privacy and beauty very close to everything. Lots of butterflies and birds, including hummingbirds, live here because the property is filled with mature native trees, shrubs, and perennials, and fruit trees. Sitting on the very private and quiet patio, it's hard to believe that we're minutes to Canyon Road and the Plaza.

Adobe Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this house for two weeks in the spring. It was everything that we expected from the description and more (The photo of the house exterior doesn't do it justice). It was clean and well maintained and furnished with everything we needed and more. There were lots of birds in and around the house because of the large number of trees and plants on the property. The owner provided answers to our questions and gave us a list of suggestions. We appreciated the library of reference books and guides that were in the house since we were strangers to this part of the continent. I would most certainly recommend this property to others. We enjoyed the hiking, art galleries shopping and restaurants and day trips outside of Santa Fe.

Cozy adobe compound

Thank you Chris for sharing your lovely home with us. It was our first time in Santa Fe and we were not disappointed. Your home had everything we needed and was a welcoming retreat after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. From the moment we walked through the door we felt right at home. Thanks again.

Thanksgiving Retreat

  • 4 of 5
We found this property roomy, clean, comfortable and very conveniently located.
Loved having a fireplace in the bedroom. Pictures show it all. Would like to return in the spring. We walked to El Farol following a major snowstorm & delighted in seeing this village of terra cotta walls rimmed with snow & luminaries. The office could be a second bedroom with futon, closet and another fireplace.
The neighbor even left her delicious handmade chocolates as a welcoming gift!

charming and authentic casita

  • 5 of 5
A friend and I rented the casita for 6 days in Oct. Artfully furnished this casita really felt like someones home rather than a rental. There is alot of room to move around in without bumping into each other, very comfortable beds, fully furnished kitchen with washer/dryer and wifi, and clean and well maintained, we felt right at home. The neighborhood is very quiet and quaint. It is a short walk to Canyon Rd. and since my friend is an elder a short drive to the Plaza. There is so much to see here...a perfect location to take evening strolls. The owner was very helpful to us in facilitating ease in our transactions and very pleasant to work with. She provided us with all kinds of fun things to do and see for the area which was very helpful. I would hands down recommend this property to any one wanting an authentic feeling home for their stay in Santa Fe. We enjoyed our stay here so much I am hoping to return in the spring!

Perfect for us

  • 5 of 5
Our family (2 children and pets) and this rental are/were perfect for each other. The apartment is beautiful and decorated so it feels like home, not a rental. The beds were very comfortable, the neighbors are fantastic, and the location can't be beat. Canyon Road is a couple blocks away where you can catch the Santa Fe Pick-Up (free) that takes you wherever you need to go. We took it often to to the front door of the Main Library. Plus, you're minutes from great hiking trails. We are counting down the days until our return next summer.

True Santa Fe Style

  • 5 of 5
Located in a quiet neighborhood, just blocks from popular Canyon Road shops and restaurants, this home provided all that we wanted for our accommodations while in Santa Fe. Spacious , clean and well maintained, it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped, adjacent to a laundry room
Complete with washer, dryer , iron and ironing board. Working WiFi was an added plus
The owner provided us with a list of favorite restaurants, museums, shops, hikes, as well as suggestions for day trips. This was most helpful to us as newcomers to Santa Fe.
We appreciated that there was a manager in an adjacent house on the compound , a good source of information as well. I'm ready to go again.!
