Come enjoy the beauty of the Sierra and the many relaxing or invigorating activities available in summer, fall and winter.
Summers in the Sierra are incomparable, with sunny days in the 70s and 80s, low humidity, and cool nights. Fall brings colorful foliage and crisp, sunny days with midday temps in the 70s. And, winter brings snow, lots of snow, and brilliantly sunny days that often warm into the 50s by midday. Bring your sunscreen!
Our comfortable house has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths on almost 4 acres in a quiet eastside neighborhood of Truckee, 2 miles from I-80 and downtown shops and restaurants. The house was extensively remodeled and updated in 2006, with a new master bedroom suite, hardwood floors throughout, granite counters and stainless appliances in the kitchen, and new furnishings. There is a hot tub on the back deck, facing west to take in the sunsets.
The house is well-equipped and has high-speed wireless internet access, a 42 inch LCD TV, DVD player, and stereo in the living room, 32 inch LCD TV and DVD player in the master bedroom, and a large woodstove in the living room to enjoy on cooler summer and winter evenings.
Bring your own boat. The driveway is spacious enough to accommodate your boat trailer, and your Suburban will fit in the garage.
Swim, fish, kayak, and picnic at Prosser Lake ½ mile down the road during the summer and early fall months. Bike and hike out the front door , as well. Snowshoe and cross-country ski out the back of the property in the winter. Perhaps you can snowshoe to the seasonal waterfall that runs in April and May.
The location of our house is close to everywhere and often provides, from its east Truckee location, less travelled roads, so you can avoid the main traffic patterns and resulting congestion.
Northstar is 15 minutes away, door-to-door. Enjoy their mountain bike terrain, horseback riding and golf in the summer, downhill and cross country skiing and ice skating in the winter. Any time of year, visit the new Northstar Village restaurants and shops and the new Ritz Carlton Hotel. In addition Northstar is the 2010 summer home of the Tahoe Music Festival.
Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski areas are 20 minutes away, as is Lake Tahoe. In the summer, take the Squaw Valley tram to the top, enjoy a picnic lunch and a swim in the High Camp pool and hike down the Shirley Canyon trail to the mountain’s base. Or hike the many trails around Alpine Meadows and the Pacific Crest.
Back in Truckee, , Donner Lake is 15 minutes from the house for water skiing and jet skiing, as well as kayaking, swimming, and hiking in Donner State Park.
If you get the urge to gamble or to see a show, Reno is a 35 minute drive.
Whether you are an active hiker, golfer, or skier, or just want to relax on the deck or read in front of the fire, you will enjoy the central location and quiet surroundings of our house. After a busy day doing a lot or doing nothing, you are 10 minutes away from the excellent restaurants in Truckee and 25 minutes away from gourmet dining on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
We love Truckee and the Tahoe basin. We hope you will too!

Hi! I have lived in Truckee since 1988 and in this house since 1999. I have always wanted to go to law school, so, in my early 60s, I am attending law school , which is quite a challenge! My loss (at not being in Truckee as much as I would like for the next few years) is your gain! Please enjoy my house!
Julie purchased this house in 1999
Why Julie chose Truckee
I chose to buy this house because of its convenient location only two miles from town and the freeway, its large 4 acre lot in a quiet and uncongested neighborhood, its proximity to Prosser Lake for kayaking and swimming, and its easy winter access due to the level road that comes from town. The neighborhood also enjoys less snow than the rest of Truckee, which makes shoveling snow a much easier task.
What makes this house unique
I love watching the sunsets from the hot tub on the west-facing deck. I love walking my dogs in the woods behind the house in the summer and snowshoeing with my dogs in the woods in winter. I love to kayak on Prosser Lake which is 1/2 mile away. Indoors, I enjoy my Sleep Number king-size bed in the master bedroom and reading on my comfortable leather sofa or in the leather arm chairs across from the fire glowing in the woodstove, on a cold snowy day,.
