This charming 'Cottage by the Sea' has the best of both worlds as it is ideally located just two blocks from quaint downtown St. Joseph which offers a variety of shopping, dining, art and education. Just one block from the local library, art and children's museum and 5 blocks(easy walk) to beautiful Silver Beach and St. Joseph pier and lighthouse. The upstairs has it's own galley kitchen and eating area so it's a perfect rental for two families or one where the kids can enjoy their own space. With a good size living room/dining room downstairs, there's plenty of space for table games or visiting in the evening. There's plenty of room in the well stocked kitchen for those who like to cook. Two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs make it a comfy sleep for up to 8 people.

St. Joseph is a wonderful small town with one of the best beaches on the Great Lakes. Shopping, dining, activities for the kids, library, museum - and lots more - are all there, in addition to the great water activities - beach, sailing, fishing, simply hanging out in a relaxed and beautiful place. Nearby are wineries, fruit farms, state parks, sand dunes, quaint towns, antiquing. Two hours away is the big city - Chicago - and you can take a classic train ride to get there from the traditional small town train station in St. Jo.

Downstairs: 2 bedrooms,(Bedroom one has a king size bed and bedroom two has a double/twin bunk bed), 1 bath with tub/shower; fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave and refrigerator; spacious and comfortable living room/dining area, full laundry facilities, cable TV, VCR and DVD player, CD player; parking for 2 cars in driveway; linens and towels provided. Other items available at special request: high chair, port-a-crib, stroller.

Activities: Shopping, swimming, sailing, dinning, kayak and other boat rentals nearby. All within easy walking distance. Library (only one block away) has computers for your use with Internet access. Children's museum and art museum also close by. First Sunday of the month (peak season) there are antiques on the bluff and a Venetian festival with a wonderful fireworks display in mid-July.

Area: Beautiful Lake Michigan (You'll think you are on the ocean). Beautiful, clean, white beaches designed for all ages with playground equipment for children, volleyball and beautiful lighthouse and pier, perfect for a romantic stroll. From St. Joseph the lake provides a wonderful stage for gorgeous sunsets on the water. If you want to visit the 'Windy City', Chicago is less than a 2 hour drive away or catch the train right in St. Joe for a fun, ride to Chicago's Union station.

My family (2 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 younger children) stayed here. The house is in a great location, very close to downtown St. Joe and the lake, as we wanted to be able to walk to the beach and into town and did not have to cross any busy streets (Main St.) to get to either. We liked the setup of the house, as the 1st and 2nd floors each had a bathroom with a shower or bath, and the 2nd floor even had its own small kitchen with sink and refrigerator. The 2 teenagers stayed upstairs and it was like their own private apartment! The downstairs was spacious enough to have all 6 of us to eat together in the dining room. It was nice to have 2 spaces to park off street as we brought 2 vehicles. There is no back yard, but we didn't have a problem with that as we spent our time outside at the beautiful Silver Beach, downtown St. Joe, or doing other activities like horseback riding, mini golfing and go karting. I recommend this property for rent and would stay again.

My stay was enjoyable and fun! Even though we were there in the winter and had a snow storm going on outside, we were cozy and warm with plenty to do indoors.
