Four generations of our family have enjoyed this spacious, lake-front home dramatically nestled on Lake Tahoe's West Shore. Designed to be family friendly, the cabin meanders over 4 levels down the gently sloping shoreline. Three floors of large windows and sliding glass doors give you gorgeous views of the lake from all around the home.
The home's main level contains the kitchen, dining area with large table for 8, living room with a wood burning fireplace, 46 inch HD Satellite/DVD/VCR TV, stereo and piano, guitars, library and access to the spacious main deck with lounge chairs, dining tables and a gas barbeque for outdoor entertaining. The library nook has several chairs, copies of the Marshall Holler Along Songbook, some select books on Tahoe history as well as novels to while away a snowy day. The library has some guidebooks which can help you plan your activities, and you can cross check the guide book's map against the floor-to-ceiling Lake Tahoe topographical map on one wall in the living room. The library also features a cupboard stocked with a wide variety of games and playing cards. In the library also stands a small table with computer and printer/scanner/copier with wireless internet access with up to 50 GB free per week, access speeds up to 5 mbps, and often around 2 mbps. Note, the wireless connection to the internet service provider may be disrupted during heavy rain and snow storms, at sunrise and sunset, and is subject to peak period congestion. Internet access is broadcast to all rooms in the house and from the parking lot down to the lakeside dock via private wifi 802.11b/g home network with wireless access point in the library nook attached to the computer. People with AT&T and Verizon 3G mobile devices will get service at the home, as well as Verizon 4G LTE devices, which provide the fastest download speeds available at the home. In the back of the kitchen is a washer, dryer and half bath. A functional kitchen with pair of sinks, side-by-side ovens, under-cabinet microwave oven, refrigerator, electric range and a large complement of cookware/dishware/utensils allows you to comfortably feed lots of people.
The downstairs houses the spacious master suite with a loveseat, 32 inch TV, private bathroom with bidet, toilet, and shower, and it's own porch for maximum privacy.
Separated from the master suite by a stairway, the large carpeted basement Playroom with games, puzzles and a 61 inch HDTV with VCR/DVD/Satellite gives the kids the perfect place to have their own party and sleeping area for 5 or so friends. Two padded benches and 3 twin matresses on the raised carpeted sleeping level give them a sleepover-style experience. Extra sheets and blankets are available for the benches, or you may prefer to bring sleeping bags for these. The kids should bring their own x-box or other gaming equipment for the TV. The Playroom also features a bathroom with toilet, jetted tub/shower. An extra full size refrigerator/freezer in the Playroom complements the kitchen's refrigerator/freezer when the home is fully occupied. Note that the playroom is converted from a basement, so some 'basement' features are still visible, such as pipes, air ducts, and cement. The Playroom can also be a bit noisy as the home's heater is located in a Playroom closet. The minimum overhead clearance to exposed pipes is 6 feet 5 inches. Because the playroom has beds in it, it is counted as one of 5 bedrooms in this listing. However, because of the low ceiling clearance and unfinished elements, we prefer to describe it as a kid's playroom that people can sleep in if they want.
The upstairs has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a hallway linen closet. The King room has a King size bed, and bathroom with private bathtub/shower/toilet. The Queen room and Twin room share a bathroom with shower and toilet. The Queen room and Twin room with bathroom can together be made into a private family suite by pulling out a pocket door in the hallway. The Queen room has a small desk for a private place to work, and the Twin room has two twin beds. The King and Queen rooms share a private shaded deck to enjoy the afternoon breezes and view.
In between the upstairs and main level there is the home's entryway with coat rack, and bench. Also off the entryway is a door to the small shop, which has a variety of tools, supplies and a work bench for those who need to fix something.
Outdoors the pathways from the street and to the pier at lake level are reinforced with built in steps and sturdy handrails. On the pier are two kayaks and a dinghy (small rowboat) for water fun, with plenty of lifejackets for water safety. A storage bin holds the life jackets, deck chairs, boogie boards, and other pier supplies. The pier has a ladder at the end and a steel stairway on the side leading to the water. There is also a hand-cranked winch (davitt) with boom, rope and pulley to make launching and retrieving the dinghy easy for adults and teenagers. The metal stairway doubles as a ramp to slide a kayak in or out of the water.
There is parking for up to 3 cars at street level. When parking three cars, it is very tight, and the car on the right should avoid scraping the small boulders that line the right edge of the parking lot. When parking 3 cars, no more than 1 should be a large wide car like a suburban. All other parking on the street is private and limited.

I just returned from a lovely week at the Marshall family home. My extended family selects a destination area each summer to spend time together and this was a perfect spot! The home is so well appointed with everything anyone might need and many things that are unexpected and very appreciated in a vacation rental. The location is conveniently located to both South Shore and popular West Shore activities and restaurants. After a full day hiking or swimming and kayaking out on the large dock on the lake, our evenings were spent around the dining room table playing board games or watching baseball. We enjoyed reading about the Marshall family and looking at the many family photos around the house. It is obvious that this is a special place, filled with lots of wonderful memories. Thank you for letting us add to that history.
This home is conveniently located on the west/south shore of Lake Tahoe. The view is stunning, the house is comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. The only question we had was immediately addressed.
Our group of 11 and 2 dogs stayed in this home for a week during Christmas 2012 and enjoyed it immensely. The house is charming and beautiful.
It is also fully stocked -- we found everything that we needed for cooking great meals in kitchen (sharp knives yippee!) and serving at the long dining table facing the lake. Dry wood is supplied for making roaring fires in the stone fireplace, and a closet contains every conceivable tool that one might need whilst away from home.
A big hit with all was the manual (complete with index!) compiled by the owners and which gave detailed "how-to's" for every item in the home (heat, electricity, gadgets, internet, etc.) as well as helpful suggestions for nearby activities (sledding, skiing, hiking, etc.) The manual suggested a nearby sledding hill a short walk away which we were able to enjoy using sleds found in the playroom as a foot of snow blanketed the area. Homewood ski area is a short drive away, with Squaw and Alpine a bit further up the road.
It was nice staying away from the crazy traffic lines in Tahoe City -- no traffic down this way, especially as the pass heading toward South Lake Tahoe was closed due to the snow.
We loved our stay in this home and we all remarked that we'd love to come again during the summer and enjoy the outdoor decks and pier. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
My husband and I spent the weekend with wonderful friends in this awesome, spacious, super clean, beautiful and totally comfortable place. There were 8 of us total and it was so cool to be able to sit at the table comfortably with plenty of room for us and the food too. The kitchen comes very well stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal and all the cups, dishes, bowls and utensils for all. A piano, guitars and a fun song book was only small tidbit of the many activities we got to enjoy. Kayaking right off the deck in the gorgeous lake and hiking without having to use the car. We spent most of our time in the family room and kitchen so if I explored the rest of the home I would probably have gotten lost. We got to enjoy the kid's room with our own bathroom and a great view of the lake from the bathroom!!!!! Such a great place to stay and the owners are way too cool too!!!!!
This vacation rental is ideal for the group and/or family that is looking to stay where you have a semi private location. Located in Meeks Bay and nearby Emerald Bay you are able to play in the picturesque west shore of Lake Tahoe. The accommodations are fantastic and ideal for a larger group! There is much to do at the home as well just a short drive from the cabin.
Great place to share time with your family and/or friends!
This was the perfect cabin for our family vacation. We have adult children and teens. The pier was large enough for us all to relax in the sun. It was great to have the paddle boat, kayak, boogie boards, and life jackets. The cabin had large spaces to gather in to play games and eat. We are a musical family as well so we thoroughly enjoyed the piano and guitars. Out of our many visits to Lake Tahoe this was our favorite stay by far. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin!
