Lexington Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.

We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.

Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area.

Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historicl sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.

We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

Why The Owner chose Lexington

This property has been part of the family farm since the 60's.

What makes this farmhouse unique

A great find in horse country!

  • 5 of 5
From the moment we entered the former train station, we felt relaxed. This building is beautifully restored keeping much of the building's characteristics with modern conveniences. Though one might think Paris, KY is a little out of the way, we were able to explore from Louisville to Mammoth Cave to Lexington without any problem. This was a great base for a 6 day trip to Kentucky. If I were ever back in the area, I would definitely stay there again. The owners showed us the "sister" VRBO also in the same building. Equally beautiful.

Stay in the middle of horse country

  • 5 of 5
We had a great and relaxing stay here. The owners are friendly, accessible, and have done a great job renovating the building into nice, fully appointed apartments. Our family really enjoyed walking over to the pastures and barn and visiting with the horses (and the kids became particularly enamored of the donkeys). It's only a short drive to Lexington or to the Kentucky Horse Park. Highly recommended.

So lucky to have stayed here.

My husband and I recently stayed in this beautifully appointed Train station. The owners were absolutely lovely and were very kind and helpful. We thought it to be the perfect spot to have a relaxing holiday but also close to all the various attractions of the area. It was very clean and such a great place for walking and enjoying Sue's horses and two donkeys...
We would recommend this property to both friends and relatives. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay.

Wonderful Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5
We truly enjoyed our stay on Steve and Lisa's horse farm. The property is spectacular. Every night we were able to watch the mares and foals. This area of Lexington/Paris is filled with horse farms and so picturesque, yet still close to major attractions. Upon our arrival there were cookies and freshly cut flowers. The house was very clean and not cluttered. It was stocked with toilet paper, hand soap, etc. This is the only vrbo we have rented where we didn't have to take a quick trip to the store for those little necessities. It was much appreciated after a long drive. Feeding the donkey's was my sons favorite part of the stay! He is a toddler and had plenty of room to play in the grass by the property. We would definitely rent this property again.

absolutely terrific

This is a superb property. A quiet, elegantly decorated and refined place to stay with an idyllic view of horses in a pasture. The owner lives within sight of the
rental unit which is a huge plus if there ever is a problem. We had no problems but have done a lot of rentals like this did need to contact the owner. I hesitate to say more because we intend to rent again next year for a spring golf getaway week.

Wonderful Respite

  • 5 of 5
Having been through the death of my Mom and the aftermath there could not have been a better place for my husband and I to go for a week. In fact, we extended our stay for two more days. The beauty of the surrounding area, their farm, the horses with their babies and the property where we stayed was just beautiful. Steve and Lisa were warm, courteous and went beyond to welcome us and make our stay all it was. We followed their 'tips' for great places to eat and visit....but our most enjoyable time was spent right there on their farm.
