Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.
We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.
Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area.
Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historicl sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.
We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

Lisa and I run a Thoroughbred horse farm where the Station House is located. We live on the farm, Lisa since she was 5 years old. Farm duties involve the breeding and raising of thoroughbred horses. Lisa and her father raised and raced their own horses off this farm.
This property has been part of the family farm since the 60's.
Wake up and have breakfast while looking at a field full of horses. Historic accommodations in a peaceful atmosphere. Walk to a 9 hole golf course.
My wife,12 year old twin daughters and I had a very relaxing break for the new year. We visited distilleries and horse farms. We also spent time giving treats to the horses on the property and slept in very confortable beds.
The owners are very nice. We will be coming back!
This property is truly unique. The owners did an excellent job renovating the train station into two rental units. Our's, the door on the left in the photo, was a two bedroom, two bath unit. I have no complaints about it at all, and the price is very reasonable. The land that it sits on is just beautiful, and surrounded as far as you can see by similar farm properties. The owners are as nice as can be and worked with us to make our Christmas stay go smoothly. Oh, and the miniature donkeys (Sadie and John-George) in the pasture next to the unit are adorable and super friendly. I don't generally say that I would come back and stay at a place again, just because I don't generally revisit places that I've been to, but I would definitely come back to this place again. But be warned, this stay had my wife checking out the area's real estate listings.
We really loved the house! We were visiting from Germany and did't really know what to expect. But the apartment was perfect from beds to kitchen. We enjoyed the stay.
This space is ideally located just outside of Lexington and Paris. It is the most beautifully decorated place we've ever stayed. It is well furnished. The owner left a place of fresh chocolate chip cookies and fresh flowers for us. We loved sitting outside with the view of the pastures. There are great restaurants nearby. If we are ever lucky enough to return, we will stay here.
I almost don't want to leave another stellar review for fear I'll never get to book this place again. We stayed for a long weekend to visit Keeneland and some other area attractions. The home itself is lovely; spotlessly clean, tastefully finished, and tons of character. The environs are spectacular. Waking up to horses and donkeys is like Christmas morning, only much better.
You are close enough to downtown Lexington for it not to be a schlep, but also far enough afield to enjoy (luxurious) country life. Hang out with the donkeys. They are the best.
From the moment we entered the former train station, we felt relaxed. This building is beautifully restored keeping much of the building's characteristics with modern conveniences. Though one might think Paris, KY is a little out of the way, we were able to explore from Louisville to Mammoth Cave to Lexington without any problem. This was a great base for a 6 day trip to Kentucky. If I were ever back in the area, I would definitely stay there again. The owners showed us the "sister" VRBO also in the same building. Equally beautiful.
