Overview

Lexington Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass.

We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions.

Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area.

Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historicl sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more.

We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris.

About The Owner

Lisa and I run a Thoroughbred horse farm where the Station House is located. We live on the farm, Lisa since she was 5 years old. Farm duties involve the breeding and raising of thoroughbred horses. Lisa and her father raised and raced their own horses off this farm.

Why The Owner chose Lexington

This property has been part of the family farm since the 60's.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Wake up and have breakfast while looking at a field full of horses. Historic accommodations in a peaceful atmosphere. Walk to a 9 hole golf course.

Fantastic space, great location, helpful owners!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! My daughter, mother, and I stayed here for 2 nights and would've stayed longer if we could have! The rental itself is immaculate. Open modern front area, comfortable beds. The property is beautiful, and we enjoyed visiting the mares and their foals every day. Stephen and Lisa are conscientious owners and are great at staying in communication for questions. Location is excellent...Bluegrass Driving tour, Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland Racetrack, and old Paris all within 20 minutes AND you have a horse farm to come home to! Thanks Stephen and Lisa!

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent two nights in the train station. Renovations are great, we enjoyed imagining what it was like originally, and about the people who used it. Cookies and a touch of spring, fresh tulips, were enjoyed! Owners are easy to work with and we learned quite a bit about the care of pregnant mares with Lisa and the vet. The property is convenient to more horse farms and the Woodford Reserve Distillery which we enjoyed tremendously. It's a beautiful area, and the train station was a very peaceful place to spend time at the end of the day.

Superb rental, quiet and very clean

  • 5 of 5

My wife,12 year old twin daughters and I had a very relaxing break for the new year. We visited distilleries and horse farms. We also spent time giving treats to the horses on the property and slept in very confortable beds.

The owners are very nice. We will be coming back!

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This property is truly unique. The owners did an excellent job renovating the train station into two rental units. Our's, the door on the left in the photo, was a two bedroom, two bath unit. I have no complaints about it at all, and the price is very reasonable. The land that it sits on is just beautiful, and surrounded as far as you can see by similar farm properties. The owners are as nice as can be and worked with us to make our Christmas stay go smoothly. Oh, and the miniature donkeys (Sadie and John-George) in the pasture next to the unit are adorable and super friendly. I don't generally say that I would come back and stay at a place again, just because I don't generally revisit places that I've been to, but I would definitely come back to this place again. But be warned, this stay had my wife checking out the area's real estate listings.

Great Choice!

  • 5 of 5

We really loved the house! We were visiting from Germany and did't really know what to expect. But the apartment was perfect from beds to kitchen. We enjoyed the stay.

-------------------------
