This newly renovated home is located on a quiet residential street in Bar Harbor. Just one mile from Acadia National Park and the famous Kebo Valley Golf Course and a short walk to the free shuttles.This home gives you the best of the best that Bar Harbor has to offer. The quaint shops and restaurants that Bar Harbor is known for are just a five minute walk from your front porch. The 'Shore Path, where many of the old summer cottages are located, is the perfect place to take a leisurely walk and see the beauty of these historic homes and the rocky shore that makes up Maine's gorgeous coast. The home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a pull-out queen size sofa bed for additional sleeping. All appliances are new and the home is tastefully decorated. New for 2008 is a fully enclosed back yard for more privacy while cooking and eating outside. (This home is also a short distance to The Jackson Laboratory). (Also, A short walk to the athletic field where marathons are held in the fall)

Car: recommended
Check the Chambers website as to when the art shows and music festivals will be in town. The art festival is held at the Village Green, just a short walk from this location. If you are a runner you may want to consider staying here on Ledgelawn as you are a short distance from the starting area rather it is the half or a whole marathon. The 4th of July is a fun time to be in town. There are lots of activities not far from where you would be staying. Wake up and join the fun at the Blueberry Pancake Breakfast and end with the Lobster Festival at the ballfield after the parade. These activities are held a short walk from where you will be staying.

Notes: A reminder for those staying more than a week at a time. For the first week the paper products and soaps will be provided, after that you are to furnish your own. This also goes for other products that are available on arrival. I will give you enough to start you out. Also, if you are here longer than a week there will be a housekeeper that will be in and tidy up the bathrooms and floors, change beds, etc. but this will be an extra charge. This way you can relax and enjoy your vacation. Thanks !

Amenities : Cable TV, one in each bedroom and living room, DVD and VCR player with a variety of movies to enjoy, washer & dryer, microwave, and coffee maker provided in the home. No land phone available.

Activities: You can do a variety of things on the Island from hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing, etc. Shopping is also fun as we have a variety of shops within walking distance to where you are staying. This place is about a 5 minute drive to The Jackson Laboratory so if you are planning to attend a seminar or other business there you may want to check out my place. (There is a tennis court within walking distance to my rental. Reserve the courts through the YMCA and enjoy your games) You may want to get a day or two pass to work out at the YMCA. Enjoy !

Area : Dining is not a problem here in this area as there are many restaurants within walking distance to the property. Bar Harbor offers free transportation to the park, etc. on the L.L.Bean Buses that leave the Village Green daily at various time. Take your bike and get dropped off on the other side of the Island and bike home. Another suggestion is to hop on the bus and check out some of the park before you journey out on your own. These buses are fee, but do accept donations.

Golf: Kebo Valley Golf Course is a beautiful place to spend your day if you are a golfer. Check it out. This is a short ways from the rental.

Other Activities: YMCA within walking distance. Full fitness room, pool, activities for all

The Best Place in Bar Harbor!

I travel to many places, but this vacation home was perfect! It was super clean and stocked with extra amenties. Our group of 4 friends were very comfortable and Dee Dee was a super hostess! On a rainy day, she greeted us with umbrellas!

She gave us suggestions for the best dining in Bar Harbor.
Our favorites The Thirsty Whale (best lobster roll), Poor Boy's Gourmet and Gayln's.

The location on Ledgelawn is very convenient to beautiful Bar Harbor. We enjoyed walking to restaurants, shopping and walking on the beautiful Shore Trail beside the sea. It is located just 2 miles from the entrance of Acadia National Park. Americans should be very proud of this beautiful park. Jordon Pond House had wonderful food - popovers served hot with butter and blueberry jam!

We recomment this property and hope to return next year and visit with our new friend, Dee Dee.

Great place to stay

Have stayed here multiple times and once again it was great. The home has always been beyond spotless and has every amenity one would need. With little children it is perfect, because you can walk to the downtown. Look forward to staying again next year.

The Perfect Spot

Can't say enough about DeeDee's "Home Away From Home" Everything was perfect and we have never stayed in a nicer "hotel". The listing was very well done, and complete. Property was in "brand new condition". Thank you DeeDee for all of your help locating restaurants, etc. We particularly were thankful for the wash/erdryer - what a lifesaver!! Spent most of our time at the Bar Harbor Inn (wedding for our daughter) but always enjoy downtown. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will return! You can count on it.

Wonderful Home Away From Home!

We [two couples] stayed in DeeDee's lovely home for a wonderful week in Bar Harbor! We loved the house -- it is spacious, immaculate and truly comfortable. Rest assured you will enjoy every minute of your stay here. So much is provided for your visit that is very convenient and accommodating. The living room has ample seating; the beds are extremely comfortable; the showers are terrific, and so is having the washer and dryer.

We really enjoyed it's proximity to the downtown area and harbor -- a pleasant walk, and the neighborhood is very nice and quiet. It was great having the picnic table and grill, and the wifi access. DeeDee is a very gracious hostess, and even lent us her binoculars!

We had an excellent time in Bar Harbor and, having rented previously, found this to be a superb choice. We'd return again in a heartbeat! Highly recommended.

All the comforts of home

We rented this property for an extended weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. The location was very convenient with a short walk to all the bustle of shops and restaurants but far enough that it was a quiet retreat when needed. The townhome was well furnished, had everything we needed (maybe more) and was very clean. We will definitely stay there again if we make it back to Bar Harbor.
