You will not regret to choose this apartment. WHY? - Pretty apartment, fully equipped and quiet. - Great location. - Walking distance to all major museums and sites. - GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.
Sofia was a great host, we communicated via email prior to our arrival to Madrid and by phone after that but she made herself easily available for us. She offered another 2 nights for free since our flight was delayed for 2 days because of the weather, which we couldn't avail unfortunately. The apartment was clean and the location was great. Would definitely stay there again if we get an opportunity to return.
This apartment was everything that we could have asked for and more. We had a wonderful time in Madrid, and this place was definitely important for our experience. For one thing, the apartment is well maintained, and you can tell the owner has taken every step to ensure that the experience is comfortable and homey. It is very clean and has the perfect kitchen to cook as small or large a meal as you may want.
As the other reviews have noted, the location is excellent. Location is important to us when we travel and we chose this apartment because it is right in the centre of Madrid. Most sights are within walking distance. There were plenty of nice places to eat meals and buy groceries very closed to the apartment. We used the metro to go to Las Ventas, the bullfighting ring, but otherwise walked every where we wanted to with great ease. There are lots of good restaurants close by and the nearby Market (just top of Barbieri) provided us with good food and whatever groceries we wanted during our stay.
All-in-all, a very pleasant stay, and the owner was extremely accommodating, friendly, and keep the place at a very reasonable price for everything you get by staying there. If we ever go back to Madrid, we will be staying here again.
My wife and I stayed in this apartment at the end of August and were really taken with the flat. As other reviewers have commented its location is just perfect for visiting the major tourist attractions of Madrid and all were easily reached by foot. It is steps away from Plaza de Cibeles, Gran Vía and Puerta del Sol, and many bars and restaurants. We did not use transit once as every major sight in Madrid was within walking distance.
The flat was neat and clean and while the weather was quite hot, the air conditioning handled it comfortably.
We dined in a couple of nights and found the kitchen and its facilities more than adequate. The flat is several floors above street level and so was nice and quiet of a night even though it is in a fairly active part of the city.
We found Sofia really easy to deal with in arranging the booking and on meeting with her on our arrival she provided very useful advice on how to structure our visit and where to find a range of tapas bars. Don't miss the market in Barbieri, same street, called Mercado de San Anton, a great place to grab a bite for lunch.
It was a pleasure dealing with Sofia as she responded to my queries quickly. Definitely recommended.
"In a sweltering week at the end of July 2014, my husband and I stayed in this little flat, only a few metres from the Gran Via, Cibeles and Puerta del Sol in centre of Old Madrid. It was immaculate, well equipped and comfortable accomodation which, surprisingly, was very quiet given its central location, where people are socialising in large numbers until 5am.
The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and powerful and there were beautiful white towels and sheets.
During our stay, the temperature reached 40 degrees, yet as the flat is within walking distance of the major museums and parks, we could always return briefly to rest, etiher in the well air conditioned atmosphere.
The little kitchen area has a vast array of utensils, cutlery and a quite splendid set of dishes which could be useful, if Madrid did not offer so many superb places to eat. I visit Spain frequently but this is the first time that I have been in walking distance of high quality vegetarian restaurants.
Finally, the owner was always gracious and helpful as was the concierge (and caretaker of the flat) She greeted us when we arrived and was available throughout our visit.
There is no criticism I would make of this flat but I would add the caveat that it is ideal for two people but more would make if feel crowded."
A perfect accommodation for our week in Madrid. The owner truly cares about her guests. We were impressed with the cleanliness.
The best thing about this apartment is the location - and I'd give it a 5 star for that. It is a 5-10 minute walk to all the tourist sites...Gran Via, Prado, Puerto del Sol, parks, national palace. Three metro stops are all within a 2-5 minute walk. There is an adequate grocery store just around the corner. You do not need a car if you stay here, and if you have one the parking garage near the apartment is expensive but you can park for free in the University area.
Sofia, the owner, is very helpful both before and during your stay, and tried to answer all our needs and concerns.
The apartment itself is SMALL! It is only adequate for a couple. The kitchen has the basic amenities but it is so small that I could only make coffee in there. We made our breakfast and lunch on the table and went out for dinner our 3 nights. It was helpful to have a new trendy market just a 2 block walk away.
Two items that would have helped would be a hair dryer and shelves in the bathroom as we had to use a living room table for our toiletries.
If you are willing to accept a small apartment, I would recommend this for the location.
