Awesome! We are visiting from California and Kapoho vacation is one of our favorite place definitely on our list.
Thank you for keeping your place clean and tidy. My Children and family here from the Big Island enjoyed their swimming & snorkeling and oh yah! Thank you for having Wifi, children now a days need it...
Much Mahalo & Aloha until we meet again,
See you again next New Year to experiance Hawaii's Best.
Great location. Poorly equipped kitchen, linens, generally tacky interior. Outdoor verandas , beach Equipment good.
We had stayed at this house a few years back and had the perfect vacation so this is the place I had to have again. Location is best on Big Island, the water in Champagne Pond is about 10 degrees warmer than the open ocean and the sunrises are 2nd to none. The smaller pond in front of the house had even more fish than Champagne. Gated house and community is double safe with little or no traffic. We did a few tours, snorkeled in some great places, but we were always ready to get back to the spacious two-story house with the killer view. If you visit the Big Island (the best island in my opinion) you have to stay at this place. There is a reason it is always booked out so far. Plan ahead, make reservations and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.
We enjoyed the ocean views and spectacular sunrises. My wife loved swimming in the heated lagoon which was like swimming in an aquarium. Sophia was a gracious hostess who made sure all our needs were met. The house was well furnished and equipped with everything we required. When extremely high winds knocked out the power supply, Sophia was there immediately to set up a generator.
The access to the pools and Champagne pond made for a great vacation that was very relaxing. The kids were in and out of the water several times per day and we only used the car to get groceries and to see Volcanoe National Park. For a change of scenery and some coral viewing the Kapoho tide pools were an easy walk away. It made for one of the most relaxing vacations we have had in a while.
We just spent 30 days at this house and it was the best 30 days' vacation! When we first got there, I was put off by all the steps up to house as I have a bad knee, but once I got up to the lanai and saw that million dollar view - the knee was totally forgotten! The home itself was clean and comfortable and has everything you will need for cooking (although who wants to cook in paradise?). We grilled on the lanai and it was great sitting and eating out there. But the view and the pond - there are no words to describe it. While we were there for 30 days, we spent most mornings and early afternoons exploring the island at our leisure. We fell in love with the area - we enjoyed driving 137 to the end and hanging out at the parks on that road. It is truly an awesome drive with great views along the way. We went into Hilo at least 2 times a week and found small places to eat and parks there also. We enjoyed the Pahoa market and the Hilo market and found great gifts to take home and could not get enough of all the fresh fruits. We drove up to the mac nut factory at the far north end of the island and stopped in the towns along the way and yes, we even went to the Kona side to one of the beaches. But each day, we looked forward to returning to our home in paradise and just hanging out on the lanai and watching the world go by. We swam in the pond and enjoyed watching/feeding the fish. With the pond next door being so close, it was like watching two giant fish tanks! And the eel in the pond paid a visit every once in a while but was of no bother. As for our hostess, Sophia, we cannot thank her enough for all that she did for us. She is a truly amazing young lady who is beautiful inside and out. She went out of her way to take care of a few problems we had and she even checked up on us one evening when the power had been out for most of the afternoon and evening! You do not find many people who will do that. And Sophia, congratulations on your engagement while we were there!
In summary, if you want to feel like you are truly in paradise, then this is the place. It is quiet and peaceful. You will fall asleep with the sounds of the ocean and the frogs and you will wake up to the sounds of the ocean and the birds. Far better than anything man has created.
Akaka Falls and State Park, Beautiful water falls, Free Panaewa Zoo, About 1 Hour Dr, Kayaking in our own quiet and Calm Bay. Kehena Beach is another black sand beach that rests, beneath a low sea cliff. The ocean is a bit tricky so concentrate on sunning yourself & the beach is also known to, locals as a clothing optional area, about 15 minutes away.
