Oceanfront house located on Oahu's West (Waianae) Coast near world famous Makaha Surfing Beach. Enjoy the deep blue ocean and sunsets from the lanai, or large grass lawn. Nap to the sound of the waves. The property fronts coral reefs and tide pools and is 5 houses to a sandy cove where the green turtles come to shore and bask in the sand. The main house is upstairs, 3 BR, 2 BA, family room, kitchen and living room, fully furnished vacation rental with 2 king beds, 3 double beds and 2 double futon couches. Downstairs is the caretakers unit. There is high-speed internet access but no land-line phone. Cell phone reception is good. White Sand Beaches, Snorkel, Surf, Hike Mount Lahilahi, Visit the Ancient Hawaiian Heiau 5 minutes up Makaha Valley, Waianae Harbor 5 minutes, Ko'Olina Resort 15 minutes, Whale Watching, Scuba Diving, Deep Sea Fishing, Golf at Ko'Olina or Makaha Valley Resort. The beaches are white sand, the mountains are green and black lava, and the ocean deep blue. Things slow down in Makaha. This is the leeward side of the island and therefore sunnier and less rain than other parts of the island.

Myself and three of my girlfriends just returned from a week at the Makaha house, and I'm already ready to return! The house was very clean, and spacious. Lia, the caretaker, was very friendly and very helpful anytime we need anything! The pictures shown are truly the views you will see here. The house is a good drive away from Honolulu and Waikiki area, which is nice to have the nice quiet feel and relaxation. Aki beach is really just 5 houses away, and the turtles were there every time we went! And if you get the chance to stay here, make sure you check out Tacos & More just 5 minutes away from the house for the best service and best margaritas ever!!

a little piece of paradise

4 of us spent a week enjoying the beauty and serentity of Makaha. Away from touristy Honolulu, this beach house was a delight and a wonderful way to relax and enjoy a quieter side of Oahu. There was *plenty* of space for the 4 of us, and we imagined bringing more friends and/or family back with us for future visits. The owner, as well as the lady who lives on the lower level of this house, provided us with plenty of helpful information in finding whatever we were looking for during our trip, as well as tips for what the locals like/do. The rest of the island was easily accessible via the major highway - for day visits to the North Shore, Honolulu, etc. The beaches in the area were wonderful - not as busy as the major centers, and even more beautiful. Only a quick walk from the beach house, and we could enjoy a beautiful cove and sea turtles! The views are breath-taking ... which we were able to enjoy every day from the patio, where we could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The photos on this site are really what you get...and there's even more!! When we return to Oahu (hopefully soon), we will definitely be staying at this beach house again!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us the opportunity to rent the Makaha House. It was perfect for our family vacation! The secure yard for the kids was wonderful, the house was so comfortable, the abundant towels, boogie boards and beach toys made trips to the beach a joy and the view of the ocean was Fantastic! Sipping my morning coffee on the little deck with the ocean at my feet is something I'll never forget.
I would highly recommend the Makaha House to anyone!

Spacious Family Rental

Our extended family stayed at this property in July 2009. The house was spacious enough for 2 families and had a nice sized yard for the kids to play in. The view of the ocean and the sunsets were amazing and Lia, the caretaker, was very friendly and helpful. We also loved the convenience of having everything right there -- beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, and sand toys. This was definitely a benefit, especially when flying in.
The house has a washer and dryer, which is a perk, but I think that it’s important to note that they're not in the rental unit, but downstairs and shared with the caretaker.
As of right now, the house doesn’t have air conditioning. During our stay in July, the house was uncomfortable, as the trade winds had died off and didn’t give much relief.
After our stay, the owner emailed us and said that they're currently working on a cooling system for the house and should have something implemented shortly.
Overall, we liked the house -- as it did have a lot of “extras”.

We were very happy with this property and would use it again in a minute. It was clean and comfortable. The views were awesome and the cove with the beach was perfect for our young kids as well as our teenagers. We had all the comforts of home. Leah was the caretaker was like a personal travel guide for us. She was great!
