The Lazy Gecko was completely renovated in 2014, so the paint is barely dry on this beautiful beach getaway. We added a brand new private pool and patio complete with loungers and even a sleepy hammock swinging beneath towering palms. The Gecko is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy all the wonders of Anna Maria. There’s a coffee maker, blow dryers, wine glasses, a beach wagon and beach towels, just for starters. You need only to bring your bathing suits and lotion and get ready to relax. With the beach just moments away, you'll enjoy a glorious week in paradise.
You’ll find a large flat screen t.v, dvd and free WiFi onsite. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and full ensuite bathroom. The second (spacious) bedroom has two twin beds with access to the full bath in the hallway. There is a brand new queen size convertible bed with an extra memory foam mattress top in the livingroom (so it’s actually comfortable!) The Lazy Gecko comfortably sleeps 6. With a backyard grill and a fully equipped and newly renovated kitchen, feel free to eat at home or enjoy one of Anna Maria’s award winning restaurants.
Sunrise over the bay is a treat and be sure to take the 5 minute stroll to the beach to see our spectacular world-famous sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Nature abounds and it’s tough to make a visit to Anna Maria without meeting a few egrets, pelicans and dolphins, and if you’re lucky, you’ll even catch sight of a gentle Manatee, the namesake of our local county.
The Lazy Gecko is a tastefully updated, clean and welcoming piece of paradise and we cordially invite you to make it your home away from home year after year.
The house is located at 408 Clark Lane, Holmes Beach, FL 34217.
(This is a two unit complex. The other unit on the property is occupied year round.)

We are Alice and Denny - highschool sweethearts from the Midwest. We were married as teenagers, raised 4 children who gave us a gaggle of grandchildren, and both had careers that allowed us to travel quite extensively. Once we discovered Anna Maria, however, we learned there is no place better, so we just stayed. We have built or renovated every home we’ve lived in ourselves, and the Lazy Gecko is no different. We renovated it with the same careful attention we’ve given to all of our homes over the years and we hope you’ll appreciate all the little touches. Two of our children live nearby and help us with managing the Lazy Gecko. And our son-in-law Kevin sometimes helps with email and phone responses. It’s a family affair…
Denny purchased this house in 2014
We moved to Anna Maria in the fall of 1999 to provide a safe and supportive community for our son, a Marine who was disabled in the first Gulf War. Coming from the Midwest, Anna Maria seemed like Paradise… and it turned out to be just that. We purchased the Lazy Gecko for Christian to live in one half and to share the other half with visitors who are fortunate enough to discover this beautiful little island. Alice and I still live on the north end of the island, so we’re close enough to address any concerns of our guests, and Christian is right next door.
Anna Maria is a combination of old Florida, exotic natural beauty and Norman Rockwell community. The people are warm and welcoming and when we stroll over to the beach for sunset we're always joined by neighbors, old friends and new friends. Anna Maria is uniquely cozy and welcoming in a world that sometimes isn't.
My wife and I stayed in the early part of February. The house was just the right size and very well appointed. Spotless and no surprises. Tastefully decorated, comfortable and homey. Nice Pool and very close to the beach. Denny came by early to make sure everything was good and even made sure there was a bottle of wine in the fridge for us since it was Valentines day. Would go back to this property anytime.
My wife and I had a wonderful week at the Lazy Gecko the first week of February 2015. The house was furnished with everything we needed. We enjoyed the privacy of the pool and the relaxing lanai and back yard. We were close to the beach and restaurants as well as many other areas of interest. The house was clean and tidy. The owners were very helpful and spot on with recommendations on restaurants and interesting sites to see. This was our first trip to the Anna Maria community and we could not have had a better experience. We hope to return soon. Thanks again.
My family stayed her in January 2015. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house quaint and clean with comfortable beds. The pool is beautiful but it was a bit chilly to swim during our stay and we spent most of our time on the beach. The kitchen is spacious and has good utensils. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. We'd definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to stay on Anna Maria Island.
This was our families first trip to Anna Maria Island. I want to Thank Kevin for allowing us to stay at such a nice place. We really enjoyed our stay. The house was nice and clean and we absolutely loved the private pool. We also was walking distance to the beach as well. This won't be our last trip to Anna Maria Island nor will it be our last stay at The Lazy Gecko.
Thanks Again :)
We travel to the island every winter and travel with a pet. 2013/14 winter was rough and we were anxious to get somewhere warmer without snow! This rental was the cleanest rental we've ever encountered, what a great job!! The unit is just as stated, fully equipped. We enjoyed coffee each morning outside around the pool and loved it! Our favorite restaurants are Hurricane Hanks for fish tacos and grouper sandwiches, where you can take a pet and eat outside; just love The Sandbar ... and of course, got to enjoy Pancakes on the Beach down at Holmes beach - great way to start the day! There is a "pet friendly" beach that we visited with our Buddy ... and saw dolphins each day we were there. We would recommend this rental!
We stayed at Lazy Gecko the week of July 20th & loved it!
The owners were great at answering my many questions & easy to communicate with.
The pool is great, but it was too deep for kids to go in w/o a lifejacket. We spent a lot of time in there & it was great. Other than all the construction next door & behind, it was relaxing after a long day.
There were ample towels, pool & beach toys (we left a blow-up bball hoop for you to enjoy), beach chairs, & coolers. But take my advice & rent or bring a wagon. Its not a long walk (5-8min) to the beautiful beach, but a wagon was a life saver.
Make sure you go over to the beach for sunset. & also if you have kids, try the public beach area. They have playsets & swings there. Also try swimming near the pier on the bay side. We saw a sting ray & dolphins there.
The house is a great location, quiet area (other than construction), easy to find. Only negative was the couch was older & wore out. But we werent there to watch tv!
We cant wait to come again!
Recomended food: Lobstah's, Oma's pizza, Rod & Reel, & my fave was Mr.Bones beef brisket. 2Scoops was the best for ice cream. & the donut shop(Anna Marie Donuts) was great!
