If you come to the mountains for the beauty of nature and less tourists, this is the place, yet a short distance away brings you to grocery stores and whatever else you'd need. We are about an hour from Pigeon Forge in one direction and the Biltmore Estate in the other. This means you can enjoy all the wonders of the mountains, yet if you desire to see George Vanderbilt's estate in Asheville or visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, you're close enough to do so without spending a fortune in gas.

Try a little fly fishing in the numerous streams. Rent a pontoon boat and relax on Lake Santeetlah. Drive along mountains roads to find artist galleries galore, visit an auction right out of the fifties, or discover a hidden little out-of-the-way spot all your own for a picnic in paradise. Saturday night? Go for some mountain music at the Stecoah Center. What a great vacation!
