If you are looking for a beautiful home in a convenient location with eight bikes and two kayaks INCLUDED in your rental, then Island Palms Cottage is the place for you! The kayaks are a two-seater and a single and can be used to explore the marsh or the ocean (if calm). We have a few life jackets or you can bring your own. Kayaks can be transported either on top of the golf cart or using a pull-behind bike cart. Our beach bikes are mostly adult size, but we do have one small bike. Bikes at the beach are easily affected by the salt air, so they aren't fancy -- just functional.

We first visited Bald Head Island in 1994 and have been coming back every year because we enjoy spending our vacation outdoors and not in a car. We look forward to the relaxed atmosphere of BHI and all of the outdoor activities. In addition to the beach, we enjoy biking, running, kayaking, fishing, and stand up paddleboarding in the creeks. Our kids love surfing on East Beach. Here is our son paddleboarding in the marsh over New Years.
We purchased our vacation home in October 2009 and are thrilled that it has given us so many more opportunities to expolore this beautiful island. We found that we were coming back so regularly and that we always hated to leave the island. The ferry is such a short drive from the Triangle and, once we step aboard, we immediately relax and go into vacation mode -- whether we are going for a week or a weekend.
We love being outdoors at BHI and find that, whether we are traveling the island by golf cart, bike, foot, or kayak, it is much more fun than being in a car for a beach vacation. Having access to bikes and kayaks is also very important to us, and we want ourequests to know that they are available for their use at no extra charge. The bikes aren't fancy but, having them including in the rental, will save you a bundle on your vacation. It is also important to us to be able to arrive early and stay late in the day and, when available, we offer this to you as well.
Stand Up Paddle Boards, golf carts
