Disappointing for our group of six

There is a reason that there are no pictures of the bunk bed room with “1/2 bath”. This room is a converted laundry room with a toilet and sink in it. No walls getting in the way - just a toilet and sink right next to the beds – cozy!
This home has definitely seen better days; windows didn’t work, quarter inch gaps in the wooden floor in the kitchen, and the fans were filthy. The house was otherwise clean, the kitchen is stocked, and it is centrally located to Sleeping Bear Dunes.
We suffered through a heat wave during our weeklong stay, and unfortunately there is no air conditioning in this home. The homeowners’ suggestion that we use the fans provided for each room was not sufficient to keep us cool. We also showered more than is apparently acceptable as we were charged a large portion of our security deposit due to “excessive water usage”. With average temperature’s for the week in the high 90’s we did go swimming in Lake Michigan a lot, which was beautiful. Little Platte Lake is definitely not a swimming lake, although it is very good for bass fishing.
I would not reccommend this property or return.
Owner's Response: This review should be viewed in the light of this renter's displeasure at being charged for excessive water use (the home has a septic holding tank system which is costly to pump) during her family's stay. This charge was levied because this renter's per person use was more than double the average per person use of any prior renter in the 9 years we have owned this home despite verbal and written notices about exessive water use given to this renter. The comment about the half bath being in the 3rd bedroom was fully disclosed on the website as was the fact that the home does not have A/C. The other items mentioned are either very minor matters or exaggerated. The fact of the matter is there was only one window which malfunctioned, the flooring matter was minor and easily fixed and the home was very clean as evidenced in earlier reviews of this home.
This is a renter we will not allow back.
