|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
Dear Friends.... We have a hidden jewel waiting for you in Cheboygan, the Mc Intosh Solitude Lodge. It is a newly-built but very rustic Log Cabin overlooking the straits area of Lake Huron. It's about 10 minutes east of town and right on US Hwy 23. The winding 450 ft. road that takes you to the cabin through beautiful woods affords privacy and envelops you in Nature!
When you arrive, it looks like any other log cabin, but one look inside the door and you will be amazed at the solid-wood (knotty cedar) interior! Bathrooms have 6' x 10' beams of cedar in them; rustic in spades! There are 4 bedrooms and 2 baths 2200 sq ft of beautiful lodge style living space.
There is a loft bedroom containing a queen bed and en suite bath. Two bedrooms are on the main floor, one with a double bed and the second with stacked bunk beds, perfect for the kids in your party.
The lower level bedroom also has a double bed.
The main level incorporates a large living/dining area along with an open kitchen. The view of the lake is spectacular from here.
The family/game room is on the lower level, along with a laundry room. Sliding glass doors lead to the hot tub, fire pit , outdoor dining area, and stairway to the beach.
There are two beautiful porches on the cabin; the back porch looks out over an ever-changing panorama of one of the great views of the great lakes. Who goes to the McIntosh lodge? Mostly it's families for reunions... there's lots of ways to set up your tribe, but we get a lot of people looking for an out-of-the-way intimate and romantic nest to spend some quality time with their mate. The common thread of all our guests is a desire for privacy, time apart from the maddening pace of life in 2007 and looking for a splendid way to recharge batteries. The cabin is about 400 feet from the water, and the sound of the waves at night will lull you to sleep very quickly. The trail down to the beach is a wonderful 1-minute nature walk, the beach stretches as far as you can see in either direction with virtually no development or people on it. There is one pair of cabins, about 500 feet East, and the private owners there are really wonderful people. There's an 80 foot pier/dock.
lake, perfect for sunning, reading a book in a beach chair, and hopping into the crystal-clear waters whenever you want! If you're wondering why the prices are so reasonable at the lodge, it's because I set them that way so that I will be able to afford more people a chance to see one of the most peaceful and beautiful cabins on the entire Great Lakes. Lots of amenities are nearby, you probably know most or all of them, but what you might not know is that there is a great full-service hospital less then 15 minutes away, people up in northern Michigan small towns are really friendly, and there are terrific things to do there at ANY time of year.
Best wishes from us both,
Tom Mc Intosh and Susan Hamann

We fell in love with this place when we first entered the driveway. We knew this was the place we had been looking for, a quiet getaway to recharge our batteries.
If you are looking for a quiet, secluded place to get away, renew, refresh, McIntosh Solitude Lodge is it. Nestled deep in the woods our log cabin offers all the comforts of home, off the beaten path. 113 stairs lead you down the hill to our private rock strewn beach and dock. Wildlife is abundant as deer, red fox, loons, swan, call the lake and woods home.
We are an easy drive to the ferry for Macinac Island and a short drive for groceries or a movie in Cheboygan.
The lodge is up and running and taking rentals for summer of 2007!
There is a guestbook at the lodge which many people have entered comments in, I have culled them and have put in a cross-section of
responses. I have not changed any of the comments in any way, and
we (Eve and I) encourage people to enter comments and take care to
not push them towards what they enter.... we hope you will find the
Best wishes from us both, Tom & Eve Mc Intosh

This property is awesome! The pictures really don't do justice to the interior or the view. From the taxidermy to the pictures on the walls, it's practically like a museum of natural history- fantastic. Beautiful log furniture, gas fireplace, full length covered porches front and back- the works. The lakefront is great, especially if you have any "rock hounds" along. Lots of fossils if you have the patience to look. The kids really enjoyed the game room, and also watching the freighters pass by. We'll be back.
We stayed in this cabin back in October 2013 and I feel terrible for not writing a review yet! This place was by far the favorite rental we have ever stayed at & we've stayed in many places from California to Europe via homeaway.com. The pictures don't do it justice: the property is completely secluded, you can walk for miles on the beautiful beach of Lake Huron, it's a quick 10 min drive to town for supplies, washer/dryer/awesome kitchen, pacman in the basement!, two decks/jacuzzi, and the place is so cozy it puts you to sleep in minutes. We really loved our time here and can't wait to come back now that we have a kid to enjoy it also!
Very dusty, worn furniture, crouded dining, smelly towels, hard beds, flat pillows, portable dishwasher, games in poor condition, internet didn't work, hot water heater not working properly.
Stayed here the week of July 7-14, 2012 with my wife's parent's and our 3 kids. If you are looking for peace and quiet in an incredible setting, look no further. This beautiful home was perfect for my family and grandparents with great swimming, beach and incredible views. I highly recommend and look forward to staying here again. Great location near Mackinaw and the UP, Traverse City is not too far either.
We absolutely loved staying at the Solitude Lodge. We can't wait to come back and make this beautiful home a family tradition. From the hot tub to the views to the homey decor, everything about our stay was perfect. Thank you guys so much for giving us such beautiful memories!
This is a great place for getaway. After working 70-80 hour weeks for the past 4 months, this was exactly what I needed to come down from all the stress. The location is perfect, the cabin was clean and attractive, and I honestly can't think one negative thing to say. Thank you for sharing your home. We really enjoyed staying there.
Two topics.... #1 To secure time at the lodge FOR SURE, mail us a check for 1/2 the rental amt. right away, and we will email you the rental agreement, etc. This method is 98% effective. Second method: ask for a rental agreement BEFORE you send the check; we will send you one right away, you will get it, etc.
Topic #2 The area is a bit out of the way of heavily-traveled areas like Petoskey Harbor Springs, Mackinac Isl. etc., but we like it that way. The time it takes to get to those places gives you time to relax and enjoy the company that you are with, without time pressures that you get in the world every day, without let-up. PLACES: Boyne for skiing, many places(all Very beautiful) for golf, the Soo area for lock-watching,waterfalls, sand dunes, painted rocks boat rides, all are wonderful, our #1 memory was riding bikes the 8 mi. around Mackinac!..
Golf: Forget golf details for now... (there's some of the most beautiful courses in the entire US in upper Michigan)......back to finishing up the list of amenities... ~personalized gift basket on arrival, and...
~we are pet-friendly!
~Cedar hot tub with deck overlooking the lake, 5 person
~Olhausen billiards (pool) table with a regulation size ping-pong table top that fits on the pool table easily.
I tell people that the lodge is like a little 'Ritz-Carlton' in the woods, I may be exaggerating a touch, but not much.
AND... (Ahem!) Occasionally some guests get a front-row seat for the Northern Lights!
In the family room --- a ms Pacman & Galaga cocktail table in game room.
Fee Alert! a $50 cleaning fee is now in force.. no exceptions! No other fees except for the pet fees.
Ski: Best way to get time at the lodge is to send an earnest money check when you've decided to commit to a specific time. Whoever we get a check from first usually ends up getting to stay at the cabin! Best wishes, good luck!
