Get away from it all when you stay in this spacious, newer log home on 150' of rugged Lake Michigan shoreline in the heart of the Upper Peninsula. Crisp linens and soft towels, comfy furniture and beautiful views make Shining Shores Cottage an absolute dream vacation home. Snuggle up in front of the gas log fireplace, roast marshmallows at the fire pit under the stars, and marvel at the mighty Lake Michigan. The home sleeps twelve in a first floor queen bedroom, second story bedroom with queen bed and en suite bath, lower level full/twin bunk and twin bed bedroom, and a futon sleeper and two twin floor mattresses in the lower level rec room. The home has wood floors and tongue-in-groove paneling throughout, a wrap-around deck and walk-out finished lower level. Drive to nearby sandy beaches (10-20 minutes). Close to federal and state land for hunting. Snowmobile trail head nine miles north. Enjoy cross-country skiing at Fayette State Park, Indian Lake State Park

Linens, dishes, TV with DVD/VCR in great room, an additional TV for gaming in the lower level rec-room, AM/FM/CD Stereo, microwave, telephone with free local calls, stove, refrigerator, toaster, and coffee maker are all on-site. Also provided are a washer/dryer, charcoal grills and patio furniture, and a campfire pit. Guests may need to purchase additional paper products and personal care items during the course of the vacation. Firewood is not provided, but may be purchased locally.

Nearby Activities: Shining Shores is a short drive to sandy beaches - Rogers Park near Manistique or Fayette State Park near Garden. Or, swim on the premises (rocky bottom) with wet shoes and floaties. Close to Fayette State Park, Kitch-iti-kipi, and Kewadin Casino in Manistique. About an hour or so away, you'll find Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore. Mackinaw Island is about a two-hour drive. You won't want to miss out on local fish frys any night of the week at Rosie's at Tylene's, D&J's, Sidetracks, Mac's Bar or Three-Mile Supper Club, all within 15-30 minutes. Or, arrange a charter on Big Bay de Noc and fry fish you caught yourself! Plan your vacation to enjoy the local 4th of July festivities, Fayette Heritage Days, various music festivals, art fairs, corn roasts and strawberry festivals.

We loved our vacation! The cabin was clean, well equipped, and homey. There were lots of special touches like art work, plants, movies, books, cards and puzzles. We were very pleased with the supplies provided too. We had almost every kitchen utensil we could think of, extra blankets, and all we could think of that we needed.
