We are Charlestonians who have enjoyed Kiawah for many years. Hollis sells real estate on the island and Ann is a retired nurse now tour guide for the city. We love to share the local secrets with our guest. We are close by also should you need something. We personally manage our cottage with a hands on approach. We do not have hidden fees - ie reservation fee, extra taxes,We strive to have it perfect for our guest as vacations are so important to us all.
Ann or Hollis Garris purchased this cottage in 2006
Love the quiet ness of this area and the closeness to the beach. Being in the West beach makes a trip in to Charleston a shorter adventure. We are an end cottage at the end of a cul de sac and have a wonderful open view of the lagoon. It is perfect in every way for the gueat who is here to enjoy nature, the beach and an afternoon in Charleston. The quietness of our area allows our guest to listen to the birds and quiet our life- even if just for a short while.
Best lagoon view in the area. Great for watching nature and relaxing.Quiet, Quiet and Quiet
My hubby and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this cozy cottage. It was everything we expected and more. Even more cozy in person, even more comfortable than it looks.
I wish we could have stayed much longer. It was so quiet and nice. The walk to the beach was nothing, really. We loved watching the birdies out on the back porch. What a treat when we got to see a Blue Heron in the back yard. There were so many personal touches, the kitchen was very well equipped. It was wonderful, relaxing and I would go again in a heart beat.
Ann and Hollis make this cottage a wonderful vacation spot. We stayed last July 4th and had a wonderful time. The owners take pride in maintaining their property as well as a high-end hotel. They were responsive and there if they were needed.
The property is decorated beautifully, it is close to the beach and in an upscale community. We'd definitely return. Thanks for making our July 4th vacation special!
My wife and I spent 10 days here is September. We have stayed in several other Greenslake cottages and this one is the nicest. It was very clean and well-kept. The decorating is tasteful, not cluttered with tacky "beachy" stuff like many others. The furniture was comfortable and all the appliances worked well (I don't know about the TV's, we never used them). The kitchen was very well equipped, which was nice since we like to cook. The cottage is an end unit so there are more windows than in the middle units. The screened porch was a great place to relax or read, and has a great view down the lagoon. We saw several alligators, one sunning in the back yard of a cottage! The walk to the beach takes 6-7 minutes.
We really enjoyed staying here and I would highly recommend this cottage.
It has taken me a month to write this review, part of that purposeful because I wanted some time to pass by to allow me to really evaluate our vacation here, and part because we've been so busy. I find myself thinking about our stay in this cottage, on this part of the island, and of the beach itself very often which is a good sign and has prompted me to write this review. First, this part of Kiawah Island...to me....is the most desirable part of all. It is heavily wooded and beautiful, full of wild life, very quiet, and closest to the entrance/exit to the island. You could literally spend hours just walking around exploring, riding your rented bikes, and enjoying the outdoors and lagoon without even having gone to the beach. The drive to Charleston is not bad at all, not like I thought it would be. It is much closer than you might think. It was neat to also be able to easily drive to and visit a couple of plantations. Our 2 favorite places to eat...on the island...were the Southern Kitchen (best burgers!) and The King Street Grille (best everything!). The beach is just incredible; at low tide it seems as wide/deep as a football field and is not crowded. The sand is hard packed, and there is always a breeze blowing. We took some of the best sunrise photos here that we have ever taken. And now for the cottage...this residence is one of the cleanest, neatest places we have ever stayed. The owner is very friendly, very communicative and helpful. We totally felt comfortable (like home), felt very safe, loved the community. It is very family oriented here. The screened-in back porch is wonderful; we spent hours out there watching birds, playing cards, eating snacks and just relaxing. There is a gas grill on the deck which we got to use as well. We have been back home now for 1 month and have told numerous people about our stay and this cottage, and would ourselves return to Kiawah Island to stay in this same cottage, in the future. The pool is nice. It's in the woods but is small, and doesn't get too much sun. When you see the other nearby resort pools size and amenities, you may find yourself wishing you were able to visit them, but in truth with such an amazing beach nearby where you can get all the sun you need, the size of the pool becomes a non-issue. A very sincere "Thank You" to our host. You were an absolute pleasure to work with, and you do indeed have a very nice place. We hope to be able to stay with you again in years to come.
We stayed at this wonderful cottage and enjoyed every minute of it! We loved how the owners were such great hosts and outfitted it with anything you'd think you'd ever need. While we were well prepared because we weren't sure what to expect, it exceeded our expectations. Kiawah is a beautiful place and this cottage is so close to the golf course and the white sand beach. Just an absolutely wonderful relaxing vacation. Thanks for having us!
We have not been back to Kiawah for some time and on a return trip from a cruise we decided to stop for a few days in Charleston. Ann and Hollis were wonderful to be able to accommodate our needs on short notice. One of the best place on Kiawah, cozy and comfy are the right words. We enjoyed every minutes on the back deck over the lagoon watching birds of all kind, jumping fishes and walking deers at dusk.
Very short walking distance to the beach followed by a long walk to Captain's Sam inlet to watch from time to time playful dolphins was our daily exercise.
The cottage has been thought through all the details and in top shape. The newly created village of Freshfields, 2 miles away is a pleasure for shopping or enjoying a drink.
We love the place and will return
